My son just passed his Board of Review for Eagle Scout...it's not "official" until the paperwork's signed off but for all practical purposes he is an Eagle Scout. He was late to scouting (a friend persuaded him to join when he was 13 and he was never involved in Cub Scouts), and like many kids he put a lot of tasks off until the last minute, but he pulled everything together and completed all of his requirements in time and learned a lot of life lessons along the way.
His parents are very happy for him... :-D:daffy::spread::beer:

Nice! Congrats!

What was his Eagle Scout project?

He lead the troop in constructing a few walkways and cleaning up our town's Vietnam Veteran's Memorial. For a variety of reasons, he had to to the work in one day but with 20+ people helping he managed to pull it off.

Congratulations are in order. I earned my Eagle in 1996 and it has been one of the most important accomplishments in my life. Everyday I talk to folks who often say, "I wish I had done that." Once an Eagle, always an Eagle. The lessons I learned as an Eagle have served me well.

I don't want to get political, but I am very disappointed with what has happened with Scouting in the last ten years and how many people are "boycotting" Scouting or ridiculing Scouting over a specific policy. In the end the boys lose. We are right now in a time where we need to be producing fine young men AND women. Scouting really provides boys with the opportunity to develop leadership skills and character through service projects and outdoor adventure. We need Scouting now more than ever. When I work with Scouts and in Scouts, I do not impose my own views on issues on the boys; I mentor them and encourage them to be able to make their own decisions and have the power to control their own destiny. I also teach them respect for everyone.

Currently I am not in volunteering with the organization. My life has been in flux with getting married, starting my career, etc. But I will be getting back involved very soon. Tell him that Scouting needs him to stay involved. We can do many good things for the movement, our communities, and our nation through Scouting.

Congrats! I was never into scouting. But last Spring one of my lax players asked me to write him a letter of recommendation. After being invited to and attending the ceremony I was really impressed with the program and scouting as a whole.

Agreed. After attending some of my students Eagle Ceremonies, I was super impressed with the organization. Congrats to you and your son! It really shows a "next level" type of commitment to bettering himself and the community.

Congratulations to your son and to you as a parent. Any Scout that earns their Eagle has had parents support them along the way. My sons are both involved in scouting and participate in an active troop where they look up to the scouts that have earned the Eagle Scout rank. Both of my sons have earned the Snow Sports merit badge - an easy one for kids on the mountain 35+ days a year.

Congrats from an Eagle ('93) scout here hailing from good old Troop 153... It's definitely a very amazing accomplishment. While, I don't talk much about it these days, it has helped me become the person I am today :) Congrats!

Congratulations on that awesome accomplishment!

Our best friends have two boys who are Eagle Scouts. Beyond the life lessons and all that went with it, it also helped them both get accepted to the University of Notre Dame. I hope things go as well for your son.

Outstanding ! The lessons learned earning that status will serve your boy well later in life. Mom and dad are to be commended for encouraging and supporting him during the process

Good Job Young Man !!!!!!!!!!!!

1) Congrats to the newest Eagle!
2) Thank You to the adults who participated in your son's accomplishment. Their dedication and sacrifices are often overlooked.

Whenever scouts (boy/cub/girl/whatever) are selling stuff outside a store, I always buy something and always donate the change....and always thank the adults standing with the kids.

Congrats! That's a great accomplishment!

I lost interest in my troop once I got into high school. Looking back I wish I had stuck with it.
