Nice to see that I am not the only person having an issue with Meathead Films right now. I ordered their DVD 4-pack on 9/17, my Visa has been charged, and almost a month later I still haven't received my order. I sent them several e-mails asking where my order is, I left them a voicemial, and even faxed them in my order but still haven't heard a thing from them. Some skiing buddies of mine have never had any issues ordering from them, and suggested I e-mail Geoff to see what's going on. I sent him an e-mail a few days ago and am waiting on a response.

I've only seen their trailers and am pretty stoked to see what Meathead has to offer, I stick to TGR movies for the most part but would love to see some NE stoke. This is my 1st experience with them and needless to say it hasn't been a good one. Hopefully I'll get my order soon, but if not I'll be taking this up with Visa to get my money back.

I have ordered a number times from them with no problems. There website ordering was not working when I ordered in Sept. and there were very responsive. I am cutting them slack, but charging the card right away on a preorder and then not shipping when they were supposed to. :-(

Word. The Crawford scene was sensational. Though the Cascade portion wasn't pretty it was ballsy, and I respect that. Not saying it was bad skiing, just to clarify... but rather that the portion of excellent form chargers has declined a little compared to the past. Which is cool. While I enjoy the aesthetics of making a beautiful arc through the snow, I also appreciate the power and fury of tearing up a knarly line and just gettin er' done.

Simon (forget last name) from BFI was by far the best skier that has been in the Meatheads.

Opinion. Good skier but I disagree.

As for the DVD's, for whatever reason, the company making the DVD's got them to the meatheads almost 2 weeks late. They couldn't even sell them at their premiers for the first two weeks. They just got them in on Monday of this week and have been on the road since tuesday night on their tour. They usually have a few days a week at their office this time of year. It does suck that it didn't come on time and I'm not sure if it is normal or not to charge a pre-order at the time of the order, but you will get your video. Some things just out of their hands. Usually they get the pre orders out of the way in the couple days after their first US premier. Just couldn't do that this year. If you havent' received your film in another week, send 'em an e-mail and attach your online receipt so they can see it.

Well, mostly because I think Joe and Stacey and better. My opinion.

Joe skied everything BC and did it well. He was the one hucking everything in sight, and sending the biggest cliffs in all the movies. Also great tree skier. Simon doesn't huck anything over 20 feet in any of their movies except for maybe the wind lip in Newfie in BFI, but i'm not even sure that's over 20 feet. Joe can ski faster than simon too - See Epoch or the lines they skied together in Snow Gods.
One thing simon does better than Stacey or Joe is park skiing. Simon is very good. But Eric in Wanderland and especially in HFTH is a better park skier than simon and skis very well in the woods and also hits a few 20 footers.

Maybe I'm biased toward stacey because he is a friend of mine and I've seen him stomp 50 footers (bigger than anything in any meathead film) for fun and make it look easy. He's also recieved a lot of exposure in Powder Magazine as many as 5 years ago and, with jay bowen, was nominated for Best Powder last year during Powder Magazine's video choice awards. Jay and Stacey are the only meatheads ever to be nominated for this. Also, stacey understands how to make pow look good by balancing his skies under the snow and creating a consistant wave of snow over his body, regardless of where he is in a turn, instead of dunking in and out of the snow, which anyone can do. Keeping your balance as you float on a layer of snow a foot or two under the surface takes skill and practice that most skiers don't have. But as a result, it makes everything look much deeper than if you had someone dunking turns, which I think is why he got that Powder Nomination. Most people don't see what he is actually doing, they just think it's because it is deep, but there is a skill involved with making it look as deep as possible, and stacey has it.

Personally, instead of rating who is the best, I think it is perfectly fair to say that skiers such as: Rooster, Geoff, Stacey, Joe, Simon, Eric (who made big style improvements over Wanderland), Kristian, and Andrew are probably the better backcountry skiers that the Meatheads have had. I also think its fair to say that most of these guys were in their older movies and therefore, more BC talent in their old movies. All I'm trying to say is that you shouldn't discount some of the new guys (not that all of you are).
Sorry for the long post.
Good luck getting the movie soon. It's sweet.

I forgot about Joe. He is very great skier too. Don't get me wrong, I am not trying to berate Stacy's ability. Simon always stood out for me in the movies. Poping his shouler back in was cool.

Just got the mail today and it wasn't in there, but at least I know it will be here soon. Oh well, I guess I'll have to watch Wanderland now.

Just heard back from Geoff. The truckload of movies came in Thursday and they claim they stayed up all night to get the postage ready and they got all (all the pre-orders at least) out on the friday truck. Should show up on your doorsteps early this week.

Just finished watching Head for the Hills for the first time. I didn't get to watch it all the way through in one shot and I was distracted by my kids through the first half of it. I must say I was impressed overall with the film (my kids seemed to enjoy it too, until their short attention span ran up). Some really great powder shots and I actually kinda got into some of the urban stuff. There was some creative stuff in there. The Sundown scene was cool, but I wouldn't have really been into it so much if the mountain wasn't like a second home to me. Really cool to see them hit Magic on a powder day! :snow:

I'm officially stoked for the season now! I watched the last part of the movie fully decked out in not only helmet, goggles, jacket, and boots, but I was clicked into a pair of skis as well. 8) :dunce:

I also watched a few quick minutes myself and have to say that I was pretty impressed. Just checked out the Stowe and Jay scenes, will watch in full later. Jay Bowens rips, hopefully he is back to health after his illness last spring/summer. That Asia gal rips, many props to her.

You're such a dork! :p

I walk in the door and it's like a little boy with his hand caught in the cookie jar... he quickly rushes to move the skis out of the way, he has his softshell and boots on, the helmet is on the couch with the goggles still attached.

I was glad to see Asia in it again. That girl really does rip. Heck, she was pregnant in the last one and equally impressive! I did like some of the urban skiing stuff, especially the piece at the end explaining it. There is a skill to that which I am sure I will never have, being a klutz, but I respect it. The Redneck Rippers were a riot. :D I could see Brian doing that someday. :p The Sundown stuff is at about 21 minutes in and lasts 2 minutes... I liked that it got a bit of talk-up instead of just a title explaining where they were; but Brian is right that if it wasn't my home mountain, it probably wouldn't have been all that interesting to me. Still nice to see them get some publicity. And for those who don't remember, those scenes were shot in mid-April. Further proof of what Greg was telling y'all about how much snow was sitting there, unused, after closing day.

What to do??

Just pulled my copy from the mail box. Do I watch it while my girlfriend is away in DC? Do I wait till my ski club "Meriden" shows it in December? Do I play it at the Ski Shop tomorrow?
