I was wishing I had snapped the maps from last year this time. The amount of yellow this year is stunningly fabulous.

I remember watching Mansfield's snow at the stake go up, and then go down, if I recall, to less than twelve inches in January. 51 inches at the stake as of today, which is about double the average.

It looks like a white Christmas is in store for alot of AZers...A white Kwansa would be magical..

Wow 51 inches already at the Mansfield stake..maybe it will hit 100 inches which it's only hit a few times. Plus that doesn't include the snow that fell after the early evening measurement..but it will probably settle a bit as well..

Wierd Scale

The first map has a wacko logarithmic scale the amount of snow indicated by each color band doesn't go up by the same amount with each interval. Sometimes it doubles, sometimes something else?

It'd be scary to see brown show up on that map - 30 to 60 feet of snow!!!

Wow.

I push the snow off my back decks, which sit about twelve feet off the ground and reached the point today where I had to get down and move the mound to get anymore off, because it had risen to the level of the deck. In a typical year, this happens about February. Next storm that comes I think I'll be wise to get up on the roof to get the snow off. I've only had to do this once in the last four years (early March, last year).

Technically, it's not even winter yet.

We have 2 inches on the ground in northeastern NJ but it doesn't show anything on the map, it should be light blue! Maybe it's because half of it was sleet, but it's white and looks like snow.

Thanks for the comparison! That really puts it into perspective...
What really puts it into perspective are the actual experiences. Last year this past weekend, Jay had two trails open. This year, all 76 trails served up with powder skiing consistently throughout the week and weekend. Pretty much the definition of night and day from a skier's perspective.

Yes very true. Hunter was in WAY better shape this year than last for the AZ gathering!
