Alright, now that most of us are done skiing for this season, what are your hobbies when you're not skiing. Here are mine:

-Spending more time with my little guy. Can't wait till he's old enough to ski with me!
-Cutting the grass on Saturday mornings (wish I were on the slopes...).
-Mountain biking...but not enough.
-Going to the movies on Friday nights again. Can't do it on my working weekends as I head up on Friday nights.
-Having large parties on my back deck. Alright, I'll have small ones, too. :)
-Doing stuff on the house/in the yard I had to put off during the season.
-Did I mention spending more time with my little guy? :)

Anyway, although I do miss skiing during the offseason it's nice to have my weekends back. A lot of stuff gets put off during the season.

I love golf, though I don't find time to play enough. Only started skiing last year, and I'm shocked to say that if I had to give up either golf or skiing, I'd give up golf right now. I (actually we cause we almost always do these things together) like to cook but not really on a day-to-day basis--I left for work before 7:00 this morning, got home a few minutes after 6:00, I don't feel like cooking tonight. I read quite a bit, we walk the dogs almost everyday. Find myself wanting to spend more and more time outside--hiking, biking, etc. I'm not good at any of it, but it's good for me.

Golf...

I play occasionally but jut find most people take it too darn seriously. When I play I go and have fun, I don't take it, or myself, too seriously. This has kept me from playing more often.

I'm also into doing lots of things outside. Once my son is a little older I'll be able to get back into hiking and biking more. He loves to go outside and walk but he's only 17 months old so he can't go, "off raod," so to say very well yet. Give him some time and I'm sure he'll be cruising around with us outside. I can't wait!

(I coach DEC2, the "somewhat competitive" team. Heh. We're gonna dominate this season...)

Softball! Been there. Done that -- ALOT. I'm way to $%#@ old for softball. Last time I played a pickup game of softball I could hardly move for 3-days -- think that slide into home was the killer (I was out by a mile, FWIW).

I've thought of it as a lifestyle... 8)
No, the other things that we mention in this post are our seasonal hobbies! Skiing is a life style, you're right!!!!!

Summer things(I'm not counting yard work and stuff like that):
-I play clarinet/bass clarinet in a community band and I am the webmaster for their new website.
http://quabbincommunityband.org/aboutthewebmaster.htm
- Six FLags New England (though this year it may be boring as I may not be able to go on rides because of a ski accident which resulted in damage to my neck. More specifically, a pinched nerve near C6 and C7.
- Work on my own website which includes flea marketing, tag saling, and antiquing to find new things to post there. http://teachski.com
- Road trips and small hikes.
- Being lazy on my 9 weeks off (I'm a teacher) and lounging around the pool
...and many other things.

Oh man you guys sound abysmal with out snow.

During the off season my time is occuipied by sports lacrosse, football, and golf. Going to the beach, lots of girls there, ha. That and ski related things. I try to ski mount washington as late as possible. Tucks had a patch of snow till july 8th last year. Most hills start getting snow by mid september so that means the off season is really only 1 month long. Imagine if we got snow in august this year I would be in heaven. When there is no snow I like to go cut trails off of mountains that I can ski in the winter. Like my own little glades. I would like to do more of this but haven't found a ton of time. I also go hiking, hang around with friends, study, stuff like that. But most of my time is occupied dreaming of skiing. Ha.

I've been looking for something to carry my son in while hiking but haven't been able to find anything big enough. I'm a big guy (I lift weights) and have a 54" chest. The ones I've found never fit me. I guess I could customize one but I'm no good at sewing. :)

Working out...

Well, I constantly work out. I've been lifting for years. So I'll continue doing this during the offseason, of course. I'm actually going to finally start doing some specific ski training this year. I'm hoping to be able to start skiing stronger earlier in the season next season.

If you work out at a gym, see if they have (or will obtain) a skiers edge trainer. If you work out at home, new units are over grand, however on ebay, bargins can be found...

Golf. Mow the lawn. Hike. Mow the lawn. Canoe. Mow the lawn. Vacation at the beach(My SU and the kids love this). Mow the lawn. Golf. Mow the lawn. Camp. Mow the lawn. Listen for the snowguns starting up at Killington. Mow the lawn one last time.

Seriously though, in between all of the above, there's some painting around the house, and minor repairs that I want to get to. The girls are both in Soccer leagues so there are those games for the next eight weeks. Theres so much going on this summer will seem like a blurr. I've noticed as I get older I tend to schedule not so much for today and tomorrow, but this month and next month. Slowly it's getting to be this year and next year.

Until a couple of months ago I had a beautifully manicured snow covered lawn. Now it's all covered with this confounded weed everyone tells me is grass. And it keeps growing if I don't cut it down once a week. Scheeze, I don't recall shoveling my yard every time it snowed, but now I have to mow the darn thing every week. All winter long I hear people complain about shoveling snow, so I'm turning the tables and complaining about having to mow the lawn. Eventually I may fess up and tell them I'm giving them a taste of their own medicine and they might be less likely to complain about the few snowstorms we get each year.

Ditto! My Saturday consists of housework for about 3 hours, laundry all day and the yard work. Sundays are outdoor days for fun. Ever notice it tends to rain on a Sunday? During the winter I am up and out and heading for the mountain. The housework tends to pile up, but I manage to donate a small amount of time each day to keep up.

I love winter!

Call me strange, but I actually enjoy mowing the grass, but I enjoy yardword overall a lot. I've also been spending a lot of time lately staining the deck we finished last year. I have to pick my chances wisely as I need 24 hours of no rain after the application, and with all the other things going on in life, that's proven to be a challenge. I'm 75% complete on it though. The only other big house project is to build a swing set for my daughter. Then it's time to enjoy the yard with some brews!
