What is your current ability level? I personally think there is something for everyone, all depending on when you go. Not sure what my ability is, but I found Left Gully fairly simple. The toughest part was trying not to fall with all the people on the sides watching....:wink: At the end of the day it was fun just being up there.

I'd say I'm intermediate to lower advanced. Second season snowboarding, hit up some blacks at Snowbird without too much issue. Hit some double blacks at Sunday River. I also have a certain level of personal pride in which I don't want to be the guy sideslipping down if it proves too much for me. Everything I've been told is that it is really tough.

It is on my list of things to achieve next year already.

Yeah, I will admit that my first trip there I was nervous not so much for the steeps, and like you I had concerns about side stepping (boarder as well). Didn't want to get heckled...haha. Of course there is always the main headwall, you can just climb up part way and take some runs as well.

I'm at Bromley right now and it's awesome spring conditions. The snow is deep and nice corn. I've got 2 more days here but I wiped out today and hurt my calf:-x so I'll have to see how it feels tomorrow. Hopefully I'm not sidelined for the spring or even the next 2 days for that matter.

It doesn't look too bad for Whiteface either. 40% chance of rain each day. Compared to the last 2 weekends it will be tuff to take, but I'm going to get it while its there.

HPD - would love to hear how that plays out. I'm planning for the following weekend (3/20 - 3/21) and had intended someplace in VT but looking at weather predictions on NOAA , which projects rain accumulation in inches, it looks like Whiteface could be a better bet. NOAA is saying 1/4 - 1/2 inches and up to 1-2 inches for some spots down south -- Catskills/Berkshires/So VT -- and the projection seems to change every time I look. But it's consistently projected as .1 to 1/4 inch hits for Lake Placid, and up at WF altitudes that could be not a problem or even something good.

Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but with this storm, until the tail end when the vast majority of the total precip has fallen, essentially all the models are suggesting that the cold air will be WEST of ALL of New York State by a good distance, and unless the summit of Whiteface suddenly grows by about 6 or 7,000 feet, it will be well below the freezing levels

This storm looks like it's just going to pour warm air from basically the Gulf of Mexico/Florida/Bahama's close to due North with the trailing cold front parked somewhere between say Chicago and Detroit for most of the weekend

Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but with this storm, until the tail end when the vast majority of the total precip has fallen, essentially all the models are suggesting that the cold air will be WEST of ALL of New York State by a good distance, and unless the summit of Whiteface suddenly grows by about 6 or 7,000 feet, it will be well below the freezing levels

I think it is, if the snow is decent. The day is only as bad as your worst rain coat. I have 2, so I think I'll be able to get a couple of hours in. Hopefully no lift lines!

Unless it's pouring it's great skiing on a rainy day, the snow is soft and the mountain is all yours.

The latest in "fashion outwear" by either Glad or Hefty would likely keep that 10 year old Gore-Tex working fine over at least your torso

Anyone who is a active member of Alpine Zone should know never to trust a weather forecast more than a day out. The weather changes quickly, especially in the Mountains. A few day ago it looked like this weekend was going to be a washout. Now I will predict that at least in the Northern part of New England we are going to have a very nice couple of days of Spring Skiing (Friday and Saturday). It looks dry up here and a time to hit the slopes. Sunday is still uncertain, but it looks like it may be showers at the worst. We still have 6-7 weeks of skiing and riding up in these parts, so don't put your skis and board away yet. The odds also call for another snowfall or two!

Even when it is "over" there is STILL skiing until June and July some years at Tucks!

Here is tucks as of 3/7:

With that amount of snow I say turns in July are a def possibility!

For this time of year that is a very, very little amount of snow. Probably bottom 20% material. Without another dump the bowl will be looking pretty grim rather quickly.

I'm polski and I disapprove this thread.

Looks like much of NNE will mostly dodge the bullet this weekend anyway. SNE, well ... I am saddened to report that my local hill, Bradford, announced (today I think) that with the snow conditions and rain forecast, they're now closed for the season. But farther north I'm confident some of the best skiing of the season is yet to come.

Personally I'm aiming to keep sliding into June.
