Man, I hate it when my memory is bad. Just remembered this last night and would love to find out. Greg, could possibly pass this one on to Okemo?

There was snowboard's only and ski's only trails advertized one season at Okemo. What happened and why?

At first I wasn't keen on the idea, but after skiing a bumped up run that was affected negatively by snowboards I began to think it was a better idea. To have one run that gets only bumped up by skis would be great at any area. Same for snowboards too as I'm sure that ski's can negatively affect the 'boards terrain.

I sent this question to Lori. However, let's try not to make additional questions beyond the original ten common practice. Some reps (not specifically Lori) showed hesitation about participating thinking it may open a floodgate of additonal questions. Eric from MRG graciously registered to answer more questions, but let's remember these folks are very busy and this is the exception more than the rule. Thanks.

Lori said:
We did have skier only trails and the pipe was open only to snowboarders,
but we have decided that it would be better to make the mountain open to
everyone.

Thanks!

Fair enough about not pestering them with continual questions and I appreciate passing this one on.

Yeah, it is a tough call. Not being interested in the Pipe's at all it wouldn't bother me if I saw a sign "Snowboard's Only". But, if such a sign was on a trail however, I'd probably be miffed a bit feeling that I was being cheated out of a potentially good run. Unless...the sign pointed out there was a "Skis Only" trail on the mountain and that would take the sting away.

It would be difficut to ensure that some riders and skiers didn't poach each other's trail. Interesting idea though.
