Lift served by high speed QUADS???

good point, missed that part of the question. It is partially lift served with the Cat that takes you half way up.

True lift served out west? Couldn't name the run, but it would be off the Palvacini chair at A-Basin.....maybe West Turbo or one of the Alleys

How many times did you drop Corbet's this past winter? Doubtful I'd have the balls these days to do it, questionable whether or not I would've when I was younger, but I imagine the first time you drop and stick Corbet's is an INCREDIBLE invincible feeling.

I hit it for the first time in Febuary and hit it consistently throughout the rest of the season. Its incredibly rewarding the first time you do it, and its way easier the second, third, etc. We did have quite the snow year, so that helped. Once your in there its some of the best snow on the hill, especially skiers right.

quad up skin to the chin. then down to an area around tafts. tafts area down to the bench area. then down to 108. that would cure the jonez and kick my ass with the shape i am in right now.

Why skin from the quad?
Having never skiied out west, I would take a chin lap too.
Quad side woule be upper Naional, S 53, lookout woods.

I wouldn't have the patience to go from Quad side to the Chin. Every time I headed up that way, I got about half way across the Kitchen Wall and just decided to see what I found and it was always a DEEP and rewarding shot of some of the less traveled areas of the mountain.

patience little grass hopper. all that stuff is great which is why i like taking that route but the question is one run. that run is the one that always make me feel like i have seen the whole mountain. so thats why is mentioned it. plus im getting lazy 900ft over a mile is much more appeling that going 800 ft over 2000ft.

Because some of the best days the Gondi is shut down on wind hold.

ONLY 20 days? You're fortunate. I got in 6 days and 2 the ganjilla was shut down. Those were the best!

those are also good reasons.

i like to do at least a 6 day stretch and 4 day. then anytime there is a decent snowfall. i drive up right after work ride the next day then come home. sometimes i stay a second night. winter is the slow season for me so i do a lot of consulting which means a lot of my work can be done from the computer.

of things i've skied

West: the run under the Quad at Heavenly above Gunbarrel. not sure of the name of the trail or lift but i will never forget the terrain. rocks, trees, bumps, steep and under the lift. It was the highest lift there too.

East: Rumble

Of runs i havent i gotta say the slides at whiteface and the chutes off the top of jay.

When the gondi is closed I just skin the long trail from the notch. It beautiful and you never have to feel like you're at the resort at all. I love when the gondi is closed as well. Somethimes I just lap angle food over and over. Esspecially when the stuff up top start to get scoured off.
ps
be careful dropping in off the ridgeline above the kitchen wall. Rope would not be a bad Idea in there at all.
pss
first true bottomless pow I skiied was the face chute at J. Still some of the best snow I can remember. Short, but real good in there.
chin stoke...

Someone else mentioned a loop of the Face Chutes to BP. Not a bad choice other than the rather flat Wiedelmeister.

See: 0:25 to 0:40 second segment (lower face chute, upper section just below the cliff was even deeper but we weren't filming due to extremely cold wind)

See also: 4:07 to 4:33 segment (this was my second pass through here. The first time I couldn't see where I was going until I almost hit the small tree on the right as I merged into the woods. BTW the skier is 6'4").

ropes are a very good idea for KW. the chute i did was in less than ideal conditions and upon getting to the apron. i knew it was not the wisest choice i had ever made. hopefull this year i will have some people to keep me company this year though the board.

you are a better man than me i am a little lazy so i like the lift assist but if i lived in the area i would do so much more touring. there is so little that have done of the backside that i really want to do. i only have few more years till i take up residence back in town then i will really get to do some good touring. i wish someone had come up with the split board when i was in school snowshoes suck.
