Oh yeah, forgot about Plattekill opening on that powder day. That does count in my book.

Does anyone know when Pat's Peak is planning to open? Their webcams show a lot of snowmaking activity, but I don't see an announcement yet.

I'm not sure too many people care, but I don't see how Nashoba valley would be opening on the 22nd. On their webcam the place looks dead as a doornail, with no snowmaking going on that I can see.

I'm thinking of going to either Pat's Peak or Crotched Mountain on Sunday. Does anyone know which place has better snowmaking in the early season?

Beat me to it. Pretty big feat for Pat's. They opened pretty early last season as well...IIRC.

Just got this in an email from loon:

Greetings, from snowy Loon!

Just a quick update with great news about our opening day terrain. We'll be carving over 2 1/2 miles of top-to-bottom terrain for our opening this Saturday, November 22!

We unleashed our arsenal of snowguns as soon as the temps dropped early this week and have been laying down a thick, white base of winter white gold non-stop!

On opening day Saturday, you'll be carving top to bottom on 6 intermediate and advanced trails. Point your skis and boards from the summit and make turns on Exodus, Upper Picked Rock, Lower Picked Rock, Grand Junction, Upper Flying Fox, and The Link.

That's over 2 1/2 miles of skiing and riding on 37 acres! We'll have terrain available for all abilities next Friday. Check our new website for updated conditions, video and pictures.

also, this picture at the gondola summit:

This is really cool, wow! I will take a widespread opening with TONS of man made snow the weekend before Thanksgiving over ultra limited two ski area early openings. Big opportunity here for eastern ski areas to really impress a lot of folks...

The best news is that the entire known universe won't show up to ski Killington on Thanksgiving weekend. The place was very civilized last Thanksgiving weekend. It would be nice to have a repeat.
