Shawnee in PA is opening Saturday but only the beginner trail. Blue might open Saturday, they'll announce tomorrow if they will.

And that's the "beginner" beginner trail. More like a sled hill. I was hoping the Poconos would come through for me to take the kids for a couple of hours of season warm up but this isn't worth even an hours drive. Too bad - next week isn't looking good so far :(

I'm not even close to an expert on snowmaking, but I thought some of the Poconos areas would be able to manage a trail or two top to bottom. We've had a few cold nights and the acreage wouldn't even be close to HBK at Hunter.

I agree. I thought Camelback would at least get skiing from the top on Marjies and Antoney/Honeymoon. They have as good equipment as they can get (best is on Rhodo so thats why its able to open). The predicted cold just under performed.

Plattekill says they will open this weekend December 15 and 16 and they plan on making snow this Tuesday night, cold temperatures forecasted from Tuesday through the weekend, hopefully they get some lake effect to make the weekend great. Is it just me or is this season's start a bit on the slow side? I know a lot of areas don't usually open until December but in the less than 10 years I've been skiing I remember plenty of seasons where I had a choice of places to go over Thanksgiving weekend.
So are we on track with averages yet? Still seems a bit slow to me...
