:-(

Just checked out Pat's Peak conditions, and I noticed.

Their last open day is the 25th of March.

Pats usually closes the last weekend of March...I think they have also closed earlier when the conditions weren't good.

With the storm this weekend I'd guess that they will close with plenty of snow left on the trails.

Crotched will go to weekends only during the later portion of March and IIRC has even gone into April if they have the snow...Sunapee will definitely go past the first weekend of April.

1st full weekend in April (The 8th) is when we start to see alot of places close. I think Loon and Wildcat go one more week and Bretton Woods makes May.

That's the only down side to a Pat's pass .. they close the last weekend of March no matter what the base condition is on the trails. I know Crotched closed last year because people quit coming.

You had more experience earlier in the year going to Pat's. How's their snowmaking early on. They certainly don't have the arsenal of snowguns Crotched has. Still waiting on season passes for next year until Peak resorts figures out their new mountains and if there will be any sort of a cross-mountain pass.

IIRC Pats Peak never opens before the first week of December and always closes by the last week of March. By comparison, Crotched may go a few weeks before and after that.

My only November ski experience was at Crotched last season (November 2005)...we had a cold stretch during a few days before Thanksgiving and they made enough snow to have a few trails open.

The main reason I'd pick a Crotched pass at this point would be if it was a good multi-mountain pass...IMO their season isn't that much longer than Pats.

Well, if they can open 2 weeks earlier, and stay open 2 weeks after, that IS a month more timewise. My only gripe about Crotched compared to Pat's is the length of the run, and the trees. :) I learned to like to pop into Pat's trees, and the fact that my son can go into the trees off a green trail is another benny.

On the other hand, Pat's lift lines can suck on weekends.

FWIW two years ago when we had a lot of snow, we E-mailed and called Pats Peak. Several other folks did as well. The management decided to try and open for the first weekend of April...then came all the rain. But hell, at least they tried. I give them that. In 2005 they opened on Thanksgiving Weekend I believe as well. So E-mail Lori and the crew...tell your friends to do the same....I bet that if they have the snow and the demand, they will open.
