much like a ski lock is insurance for your skis, a helmet as insurance for your head seems like a.......... no brainer.

glad to hear you suffered only minor injuries compared to what could have happened without proper protection.

My two young daughters and I all wear helmets. Never wore won until two years ago when my oldest told me, "Dad if we have to wear a helmet, why not you?" I tried one on (Boeri Tactic) and it fit like a glove. Light, comfortable and best of all....WARM!!! Just had my wife try on a Boeri Siren, which she loved and bought her one. Don't want to start another helmet debate, but its so darn comfortable its a no brainer (pardon the pun) !

I hate to say it but I wear a helmet not only to protect me from myself but from all the others tearning down the mountain. I trust myself much more than I do other skiers/riders. ;)

Glad to hear you're OK.

Good to know that you didn't get hurt seriously. A few years ago I had a grade 3 concussion, not skiing related, and I wouldn't think about skiing without a helmet. Like others have said, it's a no brainer.

I personally do not wear one, however, if I skied weekends or did parks, I would. If I'm going to be in the trees I will wear one though.

It feels funny the first time you wear one, but you get used to it in a hurry. And the extra warmth is definitely nice.

Personally, I've never had a fall where I thought I would have taken a concussion without a helmet, but I've never needed a seatbelt either. Very little chance in any given day, but I figure if I go skiing 15-20 times a year for the next 30 years that's about 500-600 opportunities to have something go wrong.

in my mind a helmet is jsut like anything else like a seatbelt or a fire ext. you hope you never have to use them.

like i say if you enjoy skiing then you might as well invest in the thing you love doing!!!

Couldn't agree more. A couple of weeks ago I forced my wife to get one. She grew up skiing in the 70s and 80s and I really had to push her into it. We bought it at a ski area and two runs later I had MY worst crash on skis. I landed forehead first, I believe I suffered a minor concussion. Besides the safety they're really warm and give you a give place to put your goggles when not in use.

1 or 2 weeks...Tough news. Plenty os season left though.

You've got the right perspective...end of season w/o the helmet.

Mant to ask if you were going to contact the helmet mfgr and see if they'd give you a discount twards a new one. I've heard (from this forum) that some mfgrs offer discounts on replacement helmets.

What the heck...you've go two weeks to figure that out.

Second full season wearing a helmet and knock on wood haven't fallen on my head yet! The one time it did help me was last year at Sugarbush when I severely cut my leg and was being transported by ski patriol down the mountain head first. Back of my head kept bangin' the sled the entire way down and prolly would have ended up with a concussion without the helmet on!

Sorry to hear about the crash, but nice to hear about a better outcome because of a good decision.

Those pictures really tell the story. Thanks for posting them. 2 weeks will come and go before you know it.
