Go to Ragged. With the ravine 100% open and all the natural trails, it's a must.

By chance I was at Cannon last Friday and at Ragged (for the first time) on Monday. Both are laid back really. Cannon has more for the hard core set but it is also has mellow groomers. The glades off of Zoomer are not as intense as Kinsman but still challenging. Ragged is nice, it reminds me of a bigger Crotched. That being said I think the groomers all feel the same there. The glades were not in great shape on Monday. Not terrible but showing some signs of use. I skied glades at Cannon on Friday and Saturday at Berkshire East and XC on Sunday so I was content with just poking around the edges at Ragged on Monday. So my glade experience at Ragged was limited.

I only started going to Cannon this year and it has become a favorite of mine after only a few visits but the climate there is fierce. I can see the draw to the glades at Ragged but the rest of it was nice but not something I would go back for if the glades were closed. For a holiday crowds were manageable at Ragged on Monday.

I was at Cannon today. Wind was super nasty; they closed the summit chair and Eaglecliff because of wind. Peabody and Zoomer chairs were both brutal. Visibility was notably absent after lunch.

It was snowing today, so you can guess where all that snow went given the wind. Everything's open, everything, and you'll find the cliffs and tight glades if you want them tomorrow at Cannon.

Having spent the last 40 years at Cannon,I would tell anybody to stay away from there on Friday. It looks like a south wind will blow and if my hunch is right it might not even operate.I was going to go today and really blew it cuz its blue sky.Damn!
