Re-drilling

Any ideas as to how many times a ski can re-drilled?

I've got a pair that was drilled probably 3 times. I really want to keep them but the bindings are old plastic Salomon 757 or something like that and they're begining to break into pieces. I was thinking about having another set of bindings of more recent vintage put on but I am concerned about if they will hold since the new holes will have to be in close proximity to the other ones.

Any opinions??

Sounds like those skiis are at their end. Perhaps get a riser plate that you can mount onto. The holes will be very different, and it will be like starting fresh.

That's a really good idea - I like it.
The skis are actually in great shape, multiple holes aside. I picked them up at a garage sale a while back. The bottoms and tops were almost scratchless and plenty of camber.
Yes, they are straight and the best bump skis I've had in a long time, so I'm keen on using them.

As long as there's enough separation between holes, you can mount quite a few times; 3 is the number I've heard at which it's wise to begin thinking carefully before doing so, but it depends on the ski and the bindings in question (i.e. is the area under the binding starting to look like Swiss cheese?).

You might also consider checking slightly more recent Salomon hole patterns; the Driver series is still indemnified, IIRC, and the hole pattern is similar if not identical to the 757. I think the post-Driver generation (Axe, maybe?) retained the hole Driver pattern, as well; I don't know about more recent bindings.
