To quote a patient of mine, who was just in, who has a house up by Mad River/Sugarbush (and was up there yesterday with her kids) "yesterday was UGLY" And in all the years I've known her, she's always a "the glass is 1/2 full" type of person

Yesterday was ugly, what resort in the north wasn't. 96mph winds reported on Mt Mansfield. MRG never opened. That was yesterday, rain and wind .

Today however, when I got to work(Mt Ellen today) there was 2" of new snow at the base, 4" on the upper mountain. It snowed most of the day and hoping for another plume from Lake Champlain tonight. Making snow and grooming had lots of the terrain on both mountains skiing pretty nice today.

There were a few victims, the Mall got really mauled and Bravo too. Steins got pretty beatup but being one of the designated spring trails it's going to be hit hard with snowmaking. As we work towards the weekend it gets colder for better snowmaking. Full grooming onslaught is on making for a good weekend on piste. The lower woods areas are getting thin and Slidebrook might not be open unless there is a bunch of snow from the sky. Check the website http://www.sugarbush.com/snow-trails-conditions/live-mountain-update for updates.

"Lincoln Peak was really nice today, at least the trails with snowmaking and grooming. Great surface with at least 4" of fresh and more coming down when I left at noon. Stein's was lit up with guns t2b as well. They have done a great job coming back from the messy weather. I'd give the natural snow trails a bit of time before venturing in there.

Thanks for this.

Making the trek to Mt. Ellen tomorrow to see what the mountain is all about while taking advantage of the last $39.

I'm pretty pumped to check it out, and I just got a buddy to decide to come with me so I won't have to do the drive alone.

Ok I jsut got the official word. Magic got hit pretty hard. They arent opening tomorrow to contimue grooming etc. They are hoping to have 10 trails open which means only a few runs on the east side of the mountain. I'm gonna start praying for some snow to get here soon!!!

^ Thanks for the word on Magic. We need to do our snow dance for that mountain.

By the way, it's snowing like crazy here in Boston. I wish this was in the mountains instead. We could use it up there.

Just got back from Shawnee Peak. What a turnaround! Tuesday night it was basically ice. Tonight it was fairly deep loosegranular all over and also some fresh snow from snow squalls. Great job done by the groomers to make it skiable so soon! Should be a good weekend.

Tenney- no double chair, no snowmaking since the rain. 7 trails open, two of which are off the platter pull. Ugh. Think I'll stick to the low woodlands this weekend.

Will Tenney be doing any snowmaking as it is super cold now? I am hoping to hit it on Thu, Feb 4, but I need the runs coming off the top to bottom lift to make to worth the $15 weekday half day ticket price!
