Naw, they're OK, since they're wire ropes. And typically not underengineered for their working load.

I'm curious, have you ever seen a parking brake cable fail? I've seen them get stuck/gummed up from lack of use, but not actually break...

Yes... twice. However I will admit in both instances... they were probably used in a manner in which most people would consider abuse... neither were in a car I owned a drove, in case you're wondering.

Not that I would know anything about such maneuvers... Especially in snow...

Naw,

We just have to find the mother pucker who's been scraping all the frost from Greg's car before he gets up..
