With all the talk of straighter skis being better in bumps-- Am thinking of remounting my old Atomic Bionic SL skis from 1984 to fit my current boots-- they are straight as an arrow. Only issues may be length- 200 or 203 I believe, and possibly stiffness. I wonder if the old marker MR turntable bindings are still safe? If so and the re-mount is reasonable, I may do it anyway for fun.

One of the ski shop guys can probably look at an indemnification list for you, but I know the 10 year old Markers I have got taken off the list last year.

And straight as an arrow isn't necessarily great. You don't want so much sidecut that they turn anytime you're on uneven surface, and the wider tips lead to skis being slower edge to edge, but modern bump skis have much more sidecut than the old truly shaped skis, even the straighter ones like the Elans and Heads. 200, heavy, and stiff are also bad.

There's Head bump skis to be had at $200 at levelnine.

unless they are the step in verion of the MRR, they are no longer indemnified...and if you bought them at the same time as the skis, theres no chance. Do you seriously want to trust your knees to 25yr old bindings? Put them up on a wall where they belong and go do some online shopping for cheap new gear...or swing on over to the local ski shop...they'll be psyched to see someone and you can probably get them to throw in a free mount.

Was not thinking of making them my regular ski- just for an occasional retro bump run. The MRs were bought with the skis in 1984- if people here think it is a bad idea- will scratch it. Will hang the skis on the basement wall as suggested or wait until I have a spare binding to mount.

Am very close to pulling the trigger on some twisters- but will have to check out the Heads.

Send Glenn all your old unwanted skis. He needs them to make a railing support for the rail in the loft...and the stairs leading to the loft. (The place in VT)
