Goat has plenty of character. you will see. I consider rumble an intermediate learners bump run. You can look like a hero on it cause it so easy to check your speed.

thats a new take on it. It does flatten out quite a bit after the top 1/3rd or so but i've never really looked at it as a bump run per se.

Wow. You must be one helluva accomplished skier if you consider Rumble an "intermediate learners bump run..." :-o Hopefully when I get up to Whiteface with HPD you'll come out with us. It would be a pleasure to watch you ski, I'm sure.

Im not that good I'm just saying from my experience on it thats my take. It will be a pleasure to ski with you. Better be getting in shape been running and biking everyday to get ready. Three minute rule in force, back seat driver need not apply. HAHA kidding hopefully things will be open. If they are not I will show you placed that HDP yellow jacket will not allow. he cant afford to get in trouble.

TJF is a very skilled skier.

While I disagree with him that Rumble an "intermediate learners bump run..." I do agree with the point he's making. I also think Goat is a more challenging run then Rumble. It's longer and alot steeper. Rumble is a great trail, maybe more fun then Goat, but Goat, IMO, is a far harder trail to ski well.

Perhaps I should of framed the question better. This is my feeling as well. Rumble is a BLAST, but Goat is great fun as well, especially the top section and I would agree, the more difficult trail.

Sheesh, I can't even vote in my own poll, I'm undecided

Oh right, it's lookout that is not one of the 4. My bad. I never felt that Stowe had great trails. Sugarbush is the place to ski.

Ya.

But you live in Stowe..haha..

The front four plus Lookout, Hayride, Nosedive, ChinClip, and some of the sweetness over at Big Spruce makes for a sa weet ski trip..

And I'm sure BMM wouldn't mind if I reposted his pics from the Rumble thread:

Actually, now I'm going to sue you for copyright infringement and theft of intellectual property.

Feel free to use my pix anytime (as long as they are in support of the Bush) :D

Never skied Stowe, so I won't make any judgments. All I know is that Rumble is a heck of a ski trail, and tons of fun. It's not a bump run, though. Sure, you'll find some bumps on it. But it's just not a bump run. It definitely has character, and is significantly steep at the top. Unfortunately, it doesn't stay that steep for long. But definitely fun on a powder day!

Based on the pic, Goat looks like an excellent trail as well. Although I prefer the more windy style of a trail like Rumble. Goat also looks a little wider??? Is that true, or is the picture deceiving? Either way, it definitely looks like a blast.

Goat definitely looks wider. Rumble is hardly visible from just about any angle, except for that one wide-ish turn...

Goat starts out narrow at the top..and is often only skiable on the left side which makes it even more narrow..then 1/4 of the way down where you can cut in from Liftline..it widens and the pitch moderates..that sections usually has the best bumps...then there's a steep pitch before midway crosses it..then Lower goat narrows than widens and there are a few larging 5-8 foot boulders that are fun to drop off of..Goat is about 1500-1600 vert and then you can take lower liftline or lower National back to the quad or Lower Nosedive to the Ganjala..

Actually sounds like a lot of similarities to Rumble. Both are in and around 1500' vert, both start out steep and moderate, both have plenty of fun boulders to drop off of, both are beside Liftline, etc.

Do you happen to know the average width of Goat? IIRC, Rumble's average width is just about 15'.

I'm guessing the average width of Goat is closer to 25-30 feet..yes there are areas on the top that aren't much wider than two ski lengths(12 feet) but the widest parts are probably 30-40 feet wide..still pretty narrow..and they never..never,,never groom Goat..and I know they don't ever groom Rumble..I have seen Middle Earth groomed before..but it's a rarity

I think it's Castlerock Run that gets an occasional groom, but perhaps ME gets flattened every now and then. Travesty!

It's nice for a bump run to get groomed before it dumps...then you aren't feeling rock hard bumps under the powder..

I don't have a lot of time in at Sugarbush, but I've seen the Castlerock chair spinning more often than not. Outside of a wind hold, if the CR double is not turning, Rumble's probably not skiable

True. The Bush is definitely not afraid to open trails and lifts with sketchy cover. I skied the Rock last February on a foot of fresh on top of almost no base.
