Resort or Ski Area: Saddleback Maine

Conditions: PP

Trip Report:
Saddleback was very good today. Amazing coverage in the woods. We didn't venture to casa, but all the other glades were well covered but firm although Intimidator was pretty soft comparatively. Groomed product was excellent. Full trip report and pics on the blog.

I was at the 'Back today as well. After spending most of my season in So Vt, a trip up to my friends camp in NW Maine was the solution to curing the tough start to the season.
Got on hill abt 10:15 after being stopped on Rte 4 north of Madrid for abt 30 mins due to a rollover crash down the hill. Really hope whomever was driving made it because the truck getting towed away was in rough shape.

Saddleback was outstanding today. My best day of the season conditions wise. First run we headed out to Muleskinner which containues to be one of my favorite runs in all of New England. Great snow, lower boot top deep in places where it had drifted in. Skied straight until abt 1 on the upper mtn. Upper Intimidator Glades skied really nicely as did the upper part of Governor before it got scratchy down low. Peachys could use a bit more snow as the bumps were kind of firm in there. Dark Wizard could use a bit more coverage down low as well IMO.
Upper Professor and Jane Craig delivered the goods, those are two of my favorites as well at Saddleback.
After lunch in the Swig and Smelt we did 3 runs on the T Bar...silver doctor was great, bumps on parmachenee could use some softening. Then headed back up top for another trip out to #4 which was real nice...a bit crusty and wind blown on the upper section where its more exposed but still really nice turns in there with good coverage.
Ended the day ripping down Golden Smelt....awesome day at Saddleback! Its basically full on winter up there, absolutely worth the drive for those looking for some nice snow in this tough winter.

I was at Saddleback on Sat as well...was surprised that they were blowing snow on Royal Coachman...as I recall that is usually one of the first trails to open for the season. Salsgang: did they just focus more on getting the ghost and green weaver going first this year given the marginal snowmaking temps we endured?

Yeah I am guessing since it took such a long time to really get rolling on snowmaking for Ghost and Weaver they moved onto the upper mtn (tri color, supervisor, tight line) and the T-Bar (silver doctor, the devils) before finishing up on Coachman.
