I am moving to Northern Connecticut this summer and I was curious if skiing is an activity that public or private schools offer as an activity after school or on the weekends?

Thanks

There may be an after-school program through the school or town/city avaible depending on where you end up. When I was going up in Burlington, CT the town ran a program where we would go after school one night a week for several weeks (5-6??). Ussually we would leave right from the school, but I remember some years we must have had a later start time because my parents had to drive me up to the town hall in the evening. The after-school programs are what pays the bills for the local hills I believe.

Not sure which came first...the ski club...or the resort "selling" the idea of a ski club....but her in Worcester County (Central Ma, North to South borders), Wachusett Moutain has several schools that participate...seven days per week worth of it.

My boss' (lives clower to Boston) son participates in a weekend school-sponsored club. THey go to Waterville Valley for 6 or 8 Saturdays.

So I imagine if there is skiing near your hometown...there's a club, and probably one associated with the school.

Definitely, ask the school. In fact...maybe you need to "start" a ski club with your local ski location if there isn't one. I know my town didn't have one originally. Then a Ski Patroller moved to town, wanted his kids to be in a program, grabbed the bull by the horns and now we have a Sunday afternoon trip to Wa.

Go for it.

You got that right. There's a place about 30 minutes from me called West Mt. They are packed week nights with school groups. Without those kids groups they would be out of business.

Even Jiminy Peak gets alot of revenue from kid's programs.

My school goes to Wachusett on Friday nights and up to either Smuggs or Stowe in March.

I guess that one issue with my son joining a ski club or skiing after school may be his age, he is only 6 years old. I suppose school trips and ski clubs may have a minimum age requirement?
