Says who? You? Since when do you make the rules of the road? It would be nice if they did, but there's nothing that says that they need to.

A few years ago..I was driving back from Blue mountain and this pickup truck was driving 35mph in a 45mph zone..with the lights on inside looking at a map...I tailgated and flashed my high-beams a few times and the driver actually sped up to about 60mph...well about a mile down the road..the Pick-up truck hit a deer and took out the entire front end. I swerved around the carnage and the guy behind me helped out.

Anyway..I should chill with my road-rage...

What, on earth, is so important in your life that you need to rush home for? I mean really.

You could have at least stopped and helped.

Good call! Probably was rushing home to get drunk and/or 'small' all by himself.

Dude, that's just not cool. Why? What's the big rush? And then to leave the scene of the accident like that........

Yes, that's road rage and you're an idiot. On the rare occasions that someone wants to go faster than me and starts tailgating me I go even slower. If they ever started flashing their high beams at me I'd probably wait until they got close and slam on the brakes. Then when they rear ended me I'd pull them out of their car and beat them senseless. Yes, I have road rage issues too...
 Yes, you do.

I'd check to see that they had insurance coverage first, then sue them on the slam dunk rear ender.

It's like the song by Ludacris..."Move B+tch get out the way"....If you're doing under the speed limit..get the heck out of my way..

Yeah... that $30 you donated to Marc was definitely not enough, you should probably up that to at least $300.

Hahaha...well..I'm at least honest about my road rage..I think all of us have had a few roadrage incidents..I'm lucky I haven't pissed off a good old boy..with a rifle in his pickup truck..but from now on..I'm going to try to drive a little bit more mellow to the ski area...especially since it's only 18 miles away. I freaking love going 70-80mph on the narrow twisting roads..but usually there's a slow driver with NJ plates in front of me..oh well..

If you can't drive the speed limit, than pull the hell over and let people pass is my feeling.

I tailgate slowpoles like that..constantly flashing my high beams until they get scared and pull over...is that road rage???:-D

Common practice in NorCal, see below.

Honestly, this is just stupid. Seriously: if I caught you I want to go faster. End of story.

Slow drivers need to pull over when they get a line of cars behind them..

Says who? You? Since when do you make the rules of the road? It would be nice if they did, but there's nothing that says that they need to.

It's not NE but actually CA does have a law (CVC # 21656), slower drivers must pull over to permit passing (if 5 or more vehicles build up behind you). Should you visit you'll see a white (regulatory) sign on many 2 lane hwys telling you to pull over. It's quite likely you'll see marked areas to pull over - like another lane for a quarter mile or so you don't have to stop. I'd love to see a similar thing here, but plowing might be an issue.

If you don't use such an opportunity you will see someone like GSS at their worst.
(this is coming from a guy who once passed 14 cars at a less than safe place in reaction to one not following the rules...FYI a 96 honda civic cuts you off of 2nd gear at about 73... I've mellowed out quite a bit since then.)

I find it's usually a CT plate taking up both lanes in a passing zone or a VT local in their beater myself...

A season of obsessing over the numbers has reached its conclusion: Season Cost Calculator: 07-08

I didn't realize it was that far to Pat's for you. I wasn't sure until now, but I suppose if you don't do the Pat's thing I might forgive you.

Wimp.

...
That may change this coming season, especially if I can hook up with other like minded skiers interested in crashing the night together near the hill on the cheap. I would only do lodging if it saved money versus gas expense. But at $20-25 per day on the 2 hour drives, it wasn't worth it. With a 25% increase in gas prices and someone to crash with, it would be cheaper than the gas and would save money.

Deal. Any dumps worth more than a daytrip to Jay expect a call.

To be honest, if anyone is tailing B, they're already speeding. He's not a slow driver. Anybody who is already speeding should feel no obligation to pull over, JMHO.

I'm not justifying what he said because I personally feel that's stupid, too. BUT it's not like he's one who drives below the speed limit either.

Doesn't matter. The self righteous staying in front is worse than the reckless speed demon IMHO. These days I drive more like the former, and I will certainly get the hell out the way of anyone who catches me.

your blood must boil on 78 through PA. I've driven that route countless times and the number of people who drive 65 in the left lane is maddening

Fo Shizzle...The delivery driver at my work is a major offender...he'll pass a car in the right lane that is going 62mph by going 63mph..pissing off everybody..

But seriously..it's common cortesy to pull over if there is a faster driver on your tail..otherwise he/she will probably just pass you in a shady no passing zone. I'm a relatively slow driver..as I try to stay within 10-15mph of the speed limit to avoid tickets...so if there is some hotshot in a bimmer pulling closer to me...I let them pass..simple as that. I wish they had fast and slow lanes on the ski slope..but I feel much more confident passing a nub on skis than in my car..

Um, soooooo.... My prediction for next year is that my fuel costs will exceed my lift ticket and pass costs. I suspected it might happen this season but with gas prices increasing 25% and will probably increase more by the winter, I foresee transportation costing more than actual skiing does for most skiers not local to the mountains they regularly frequent.

roark- Sounds like a plan. Lemme know when you are heading up. Rooms go quick up there once the forecast starts calling for powder.

I like to drive fast. I've also had many rage type incidents in the past with passing in really unsafe manners (and other BS moves), I know where you're coming from. It's not the driver that wants to go faster than me that annoys me, its the asshat that tails me and generally acts like a dick that gets the special treatment. I'd never actual cause an accident and pull the driver out of their car, but I've sure felt like it in the past. If I'm just out cruising with the family or whatever and someone comes up fast behind me I'll try to let them by. I'll slow up for passing zones or try to make room for them to get around if it's clear, but I'm not going to pull off the road and stop. There's no reason to, unless I am with my kids and the dude is being a real menace, then I'll pull off if I'm afraid of them causing an accident.

I'm talking about normal 2 lane roads here. If you're in the left lane on the highway then pull the f over if there's cars behind you.

Sorry for the thread hijack Steve.
