Accomplishments:
-Met a ton of Azers. I lost count.
- Met my goal of 20 days
- Skied a number of new mountains (Hunter, Catamount, Berkshire East, Mt. Snow)
- Increased comfort on steeps (steep for me is Jericho, Wild Turkey, Catapult etc)
- Dabbled in the bumps (and loved it)
- Dabbled in the trees (terrified in the woods of Fallen Timbers, but loved the easy going Blizzard Island at BEast)
- Vastly improved technique (linked turns, pole plants, speed, control, comfort)
- Bonding with the Wed. night Sundown crew. Great bunch of guys!

Goals for 07/08:
- Start the season in better shape (hello Skiers Edge)
- Match or exceed last years number of days (baby due in July will be the biggest challenge)
- Increase confidence on steeps and in the bumps and trees
- Keep the momentum of my progression from last season
- Shut my mouth as my wife's skill level catches up with mine
- Plan a week long vaca up at Smuggs (wifey is impressed with their daycare services)
- Visit some new mountains (Smuggs, MRG, and Sugar Bush)
- This is a lofty one, but ski at Tux (once again, family responsibilities might keep me from this goal)
-Revisit some of my favorites (BEast, Jiminy Peak, Catamount, and of course Sundown)

I still feel hurt you know... :-(

;)

Dude, get over it.

That was the last day of non-winter in 06/07...after that date it got cold and the season really started. And it had rained on Sat and Sun and it rained that day too.

I was at the breaking point.

I hear ya. Wayout bumps were awesome though. That run is so awesome with bumps. Nice and twisty with dips and turns. Much less exciting when it's groomed.

2006-07 was a banner year for me. Lots of personal goals were reached since I decided to really let the ski gods posses me this year.

Some of the high points were of 06-07:

1) Skiing more than I skied in years past -- 33 days out last season;
2) Improving technique by reading books and executing them on the slopes -- legs closer together, upper and lower body separation, carving instead of skidding turns, keeping weight forward;
3) Getting my boots customized care of Jeff Bokum -- great investment, learned more about bootfitting and gear in an hour than I ever did;
4) Learning to tune and wax my own skis;
5) Skiing moguls with some confidence and actually getting down in one piece and in good time -- thanks to the tips from folks on this board;
6) Skiing the trees with confidence -- thanks to the crew at Burkeapalooza;
7) Skiing new places like Burke, Wachusset, Crotched Mountain, Okemo and Wildcat;
8) Skiing the Mad River Valley on days of great dumpage -- Sugarbush after V-Day and MRG on St. Pat's;
9) Earning my turns at Killington on the last day of lift-serviced skiing;
10) Finally getting to ski the legend -- Tuckerman Ravine;
11) Earning a reputation around the office as "the ski bum;"
12) Meeting folks who love this sport through the AZ outings -- the crew at Burkeapalooza II (and on the last day of K) as well as the AZ and SR board cross-posters are all first rate;
13) Finding a home mountain in Sunday River; and
14) Barbecuing on the slopes -- waaay better than brown-bagging it.

Goals for 2007-08:

1) Skiing more than 33 days;
2) Improving technique especially in the steeps, powder, mogul and trees -- as they say to ski "tout neige, tout terrain;"
3) Pay Jeff Bokum another visit before the start of the season to tweak the old boots some more;
4) Ski out West -- as they say "poach Mormon powder;"
5) Ski in Canada -- Whistler/Blackcomb;
6) Beat my best friend down the mountain when I get to Whistler -- second day out, he almost got me killed on a blue slope. The tables are now turned;
7) Get a vise and other tuning equipment;
8) Do backcountry skiing;
9) Ski Tuckerman when the Sherburne Trail is open;
10) Enter a NASTAR race;
11) Ski places in New England and NY state that I haven't been to -- Stowe, Magic, Saddleback, Hunter, Whiteface, Jiminy Peak;
12) Skiing with more AZ folks.

Can't wait for the 07-08 season to start!

Aw shucks. You're making us blush... :oops:

- Match or exceed last years number of days (baby due in July will be the biggest challenge)

My little one was born in 2006. I got in 21 days in 2005-06 and that includes losing a month between 1/3 and 2/5 while we waited for her and after she was born. Your baby will be approaching 6 months old and hopefully sleeping through the night by then. Night skiing will be your friend. This season I got 35 days, 15 of them were night skiing sessions. You just need to get creative with your negotiations... ;)

Good point. I do plan on keeping the regular Wed. night trip in my schedule.

Well, then you should be able to easily get a dozen in just with that.

That and I was pricing a five night stay somewhere in VT. Each passing day gets me more pumped for the season. I figured the first day of Summer is a good day to start planning a ski trip.

06-07 was a very memorable year for me.

things i got done:

-skied between 115-120 days.
-skied many many days early season in very very challenging conditions. not just a day or two, but day in day out.
-12 day trip to utah.
-a week in taos. (flew to san antonio tx, met a friend and drove straight to taos and skied)
-chased some pretty crazy new england storms. drove a honda civic through some sketchyweather.
-skied with a few az folks and also some sunday river folks. really had tons of fun, all different kinds of very cool people.
-drank lot's and lots of beer. never at night and never too much at once as it would mess up the next day.

next year:

-don't know if i'll be in new england or colorado but i would like to get out more (120+). time will tell.
-better physical shape to start the season. this has started already, hopefully i can keep it going. knees are still clicking a lot from this past season.
-ski with more az'ers. look me up if i'm in colorado.
-go higher in the half pipe. this may involve pain.
-improve a bit more in bumps.
-ski in utah. ( wherever i live i will not neglect the urge to ski deep blower)
-more time in taos. place is very rad. i was pretty scared on alot of the steep stuff.
-no injury
-little less beer.
-little more fun.

MRV is a great locale. SB and MRG right there and an hour north gets you Stowe/Smuggs, hour south gets you Killington.

Yup. I was thinking Smuggs for lodging and daycare and doing a day at MRG.

Accomplished this year:

1.) Skied a few more new mountains: Killington, Sunday River, Attitash, Cannon, Whaleback, LOC
2.) Got to ski 30 days this season despite a week-long trip to San Francisco in January, work at Sunapee 3 days a week and school the other 4 days a week
3.) Improved on technique for skiing steeps and got more and more comfortable skiing at higher speeds

Hope to Accomplish for 07/08:
1.) Improve technique for off-piste skiing (trees, bumps, etc.)
2.) Put a few more new places to ski under my belt
3.) Get at least if not more than 30 days in (despite a similar schedule above most likely ensuing next spring semester)
4.) Earn my turns for once!
5.) Ski Tucks at least once.

Great skiing with you this year. Hope to do more of the same next season.

Snoseek lives the life we all dream about. His choice is what days don't I ski on. A fun guy to turn with. Snowseek and Snowmonster really became quite noticed at the River and became part of the gang. I'm working towards that myself. You guys should hang at the River more. The mountain could use more folks like you guys.

My goals are to enjoy what I have and not stirve for anything else persoanlly. I want to be stagnant. Forest through the trees

Family get more time together. Biggest thrill of the year was seeing my son really start to get it. I mean he got it this year. Way cool.

Year in review skied more days than I have in 20 years. Skied later than I every have. Made the move to my favorite mountain.
