I exchanged Emails with Chris today. He said he'd let me know a few days before they plan to set up the moguls this season. AZers will get advanced notice so we can plan accordingly!

I Emailed back and forth with Dotty today and she indicated that if we got a bunch of skiers together to rip through the Nor'easter bumps, they would film it and publish it on their site!![]()
Is Sundown opening Area 51 to the public this year?
I haven't heard of any area refered to as Area 51, but I think I know where you are talking about and the answer is no.
lol based on the fact the this is Sundown we're talking about, i think we can pass on the "show dont tell" rule.
I'm guessing behind the sun deck.
You're probably right, Pat!
We did scope out that area earlier this summer. Should be fun if we get the snow!
I heard fro the mountain tonight that the plan is to seed Nor'easter shortly after they open, or perhaps even in advance of an opening! I'm totally psyched about this and I hope they get cold enough weather to make enough snow to pull it off right from the get-go. Skiing bumps right out of the gate would be awesome!
well there is some good news in a week filled with only bad.
- We can try to seed them a little tighter
- I agree that we can extend the bumps a little farther down the trail.
- Snow making on the bumps is tricky you can really make a mess of them. If it's dry and windy, we can hit them in short intervals and not create whales. On the other hand knocking the tops off with the groomer makes them pretty ugly for a day or two as well.
- Natural snow sure helps.
- A kicker or, two is not out of the question. I would most likely build them after the bump field was in place for a few weeks.
- We am definitely up for taking another shot at a bump comp.
excellent news on all fronts. Of all the issues, i hope they dont knock the tops off again. It was a little more then that actually. They pretty much mowed them flat last year. Maybe mow them down and rebuild them completely one time.
ehhh, now i'm getting picky.
I Emailed some feedback on last year's bumps to Chris Sullivan. Here is the gist of his response:
I'm psyched the see how Sundown's bumps improve this season!
Glad to here an area manager actually willing to listen to the desperate requests of bump skiers! This is an important step in bringing mogul skiing back to a place of prominence. Keep up the good work, Greg!
My new website will hopefully be complete on Friday, and I'll be recruiting some beta testers. I really need to get some mass publicity for the site, so I'm thinking of sending leads to all the major ski mags, and hoping maybe one of them would be willing to do a brief write up.
