OK - on a long, long drive today I was thinking about my tentative plans to ski at Wildcat Sunday - then I realize it's late April and the sun stays up late.

My plan: ski Wildcat all day and then go across the road, hike up to the shelter and pick up the Sherburne and ski down - I figure 2 hours up and a) how many minutes down & b) does this sound like a dumb idea?

thanks for your input!

You'll know when you get here, skiing Wildcat will give you a birds eye view of the Sherbie. Skiing the woods and glades at WC, you'll know what the surface is, how much water is running, and whether you want to go for Sherbie.

if I started hiking up and poop out - are there any paths that will allow me to cut across to the sherbie from the tuckerman path? - amazingly I've never hiked up from the east side - only, run up the autoroad and from the west!

There are cuts between the Sherburne and the TRT though they are generally about 3/4 a mile apart. I have done these two both in one day doing the Sherburne first and then Wildcat and didn't stay at Wildcat too long as my legs were pretty beat up from the hike. Though Wildcat was boiler plate that day which contributed to the fatigue. Sunday halfday at Wildcat is the discount price for the afternoon only which is how I lined that trip up.

1h30m to 2 hours to get to Hojos and the top of the Sherb at a nice pace (~2mi to Hojos).

Hermit lake got 34 inches during the last storm... it's supposed to warm up... check it out when you're there. If anything, it's good exercise.
