Pretty close to six months till the new season could start, it's basically right around the corner!!! Hahaha

Next year I am worried as I will be attempting to open a law firm in SW Connecticut so don't know when I will be able to ski and how much money I will have, but I am thinking of maybe getting a pass for Hunter?

I see a lot of you go there, do you like it?

wow hold up a second, the rest of may which doesnt really count cause you can still ski. So that leaves june, july, august, and september. The way I see it, there will be at least some mountains with snow on them by october.

Wait a minute, thats only four months. Its even closer than we thought.

hey im an optimist what can i say.

i don't know...hiking sounds like a lot of work.......

You need to spend some time in the hiking forum! It's one of those things - if you try it and you still need explanation on why it's so enjoyable and addicting, you'll never understand...

Seriously though - give it a try. Start small and work your way up. Once you get to the point that you're hiking above treeline in the White Mountain, or chasing your New Hampshire 48 4K, you'll be hooked. Head over to the hiking forum. Many folks there will give you advice on how to get started...

new season?

"season" is everytime!

my plans for the next to month:

about 10 days skiing on glaciers and in indoor ski areas :)

*HRHR*

different question: is there any possibility to do indoor skiing in NA?

Never soon enough...

It never comes soon enough and never lasts long enough. Just think, you can still ski in Colorado and up at Whistler. There's also glacier skiing in Europe. I actually plan to do some glacier skiing at some point one summer. It would be so cool skiing in the summer.

There's always somewhere to ski no matter what time of the year. Head to the Southern Hemisphere. There's lots of places... :)

Hunter can be fun on weekdays and work on weekends, however the season pass is cheap...weather/conditions permitting, the west side is much better than the east.

Hiking and pedal biking (road is my preference) keeps you in good shape for skiing. Find a nice local hill for a weeknight walk and a nice summit trail on weeknds and ride 30-45 minutes 2-3 days a week will keep you in good shape...and the snow will fall in the mountains before you know it. :D

Think SNOW!

I had a great time at Hunter this year! I think I have a trip report on this board somewhere. As Charlie mentioned, weekdays are the time to go, otherwise I guess there are mega crowds. The double-blacks on the West side equal anything VT, NH and ME areas have!

BUT, (and you might notice that's a big but. ) if you are starting a law firm kiss any spare time goodbye if you want it to be a success. Certainly your weekdays will be spent working, and you may need to apply time from the weekends too. It will pay off in the end when you'll be able to afford yearly heli skiing, Alta, Europe and S. America trips from all the cash you'll be making! Good luck!

ehhhh.... It's something to do... :)

I think Hunter is awesome.. Not the typical "banana belt" ridge run ski area...

It hasnt changed since 2004 ;)

How far into spring/summer is Zugspitze planning on staying open with their 385cm base?

I cannot remember them having this much snow in recent years.
