Ski areas

I recently moved from Breckenridge Colorado to Delaware. I'm desperately looking for a place to ski that is not too far. So far the only resort I've heard of is Seven Springs. Does anyone know of any resorts that are closer that have good (relatively speaking ) skiing and some nice places to stay/go out? I am trying to plan a weekend trip with some friends. Thanks!

If you're in Delaware I'd suggest you take a look at www.dcski.com which focuses on mid-Atlantic areas.
Good advice. They've got the best handle on the mid-Atlantic. You can also peruse the mid-Atlantic profiles we have listed here.

Hmm...

Sorry to hear you made that move. ;) It's going to be quite a shock coming from there to here.

Anyway, in DE you're close enough to the Poconos to ski there. You're probably looking at 1.5-2 hours depending on where in DE you're living. Don't quote me on those times however as I've never driven from DE to the Poconos.

There are a few mountains to ski out there. Jack Frost and Camelback come to mind but there are many more. I can tell you there NOTHING like Breck or the other mountains you're used to skiing. Get used to ice, er ah, hard pack and not a lot of vertical. Also, get used to more crowds on smaller trails since the mountains aren't as spread out.

I don't know for sure, but you may also be close enough to ski areas in West Virginia. Not sure what's there or how good they are but I think there are a few there.

Good luck in finding places to ski!

Yeah - I have heard that Snowshoe in WV is pretty good, but it gets all the DC weekend traffic. Suggestion - fly back home to Breck..... 8)
