I work for the Couloir (the fine dining restaurant at the top of the gondola), and it pays pretty well even if Im only a busser. I can cover rent and student loans with plenty left over to have fun with, plus I get benefits, notably health insurance, if I stay on year round. I get to ski all day (my shift starts at 345), and have never been happier. Suer it isnt glamourous, but money isnt everything. Id rather work some bum restaurant job and do what I love to do everyday than slave away in an office 9-5 for 1/5 (at best) of the time I currently spend on snow. Probably wont be making enough to buy a house in Jackson proper, but that isnt in my plans for at least a decade.

Cool...I had lunch up there the one day..do you get to ski down after your shift?

Right now this thread is the equivalent of asking "if you could buy any car in the world, which would it be?" Sure, I'd like to have a Bugatti Veyron with it's performance and price tag of $1,700,000, but it ain't never gonna happen.

So I pose the question another way. All things considered, living where you live, having the job you have, your funds, your family, how often you ski, assuming you don't hit the Mega Millions for $160+ mil.........if you had to choose a sinlge resort to ski each season for the rest of your life, which would it be?

While I think A Basin is an incredible resort, even moreso now with Montezuma Bowl, I won't pick it even though there is no eastern resort that can compare. I'm not gonna give up the rest of my life of eastern skiing for a trip to A Basin every five years.

While I think Mad River is the best resort in the east, I won't pick that one either because it just doesn't fit my needs. I wouldn't get there enough even though the terrain is unsurpassed in the east.

So I'd pick Whiteface or Gore. Probably Whiteface. Combination of access, town, terrain, The Slides when they open.
