Resort or Ski Area: Ski Sundown, New Hartford, Connecticut
Conditions: (forgive my lack of snow description expertise) fresh manmade, packed powder, some death cookies here and there, ~22*, windy?, snow being blown all over the mountain
Trip Report: Met MRGisevil for the inaugural Estrogen Night at Ski Sundown. Nor'Easter was being groomed when we started, so we hit Canyon Run first. I decided to take it a little easy tonight after my fall last week so I didn't go too crazy. Snow was easy to turn in, beautiful night to be out in spite of the supposed chill in the air. Next time around we hit Nor'Easter and stuck with that most of the night (I was mainly enjoying my last chance at it before the bumps are seeded... I'll miss that trail ). I did have some troubles with the mounds of freshly made snow.. it was like hitting a fly trap for me a few times. But no injuries at least. And we practically had the place to ourselves. No lift lines, only a few occasions of being overtaken by hoards of boarders. Otherwise, it was pretty much just the two of us. Gotta love night skiing!
I feel like I accomplished a lot tonight. Getting better about skiing more lines on the trail instead of just the one I feel comfortable with. I also carved a few turns on Exhibition. Now I know I was skidding all my turns before because this was hugely different. Otherwise, it was just a night of enjoying good company and having a good time. I found myself whistling often as I made my way down the trails. What fun!
Thanks again, Randi, for a great night out! Hope to see you again next week!!
