Yes I saw the Dead probably 12 - 16 times with Jerry. First show was 1970 at The Capitol Theatre in PoCho, NY. I was 13. Last I saw with Jerry was 1989 at MSG. I've probably seen more post Jerry shows when you take into account Kingfish, Further, Dead and Co and Phil and Friends. Plus we sometimes go to DSO or JRAD if they are playing the Cap.

Re. John Mayer, he was much better than I thought the first time I saw Dead and Co. I just can't take their slowdownedness. Jeff Chimente is, IMO the best keyboard player to ever play with any version of Dead.

We are going to the second weekend of Jazzfest in New Orleans in a few weeks. Dead and Co. are one of the headliners.
Jeff is great. Saw ratdog 6 or 7 times as well. Liked the sax addition. Steve Kimock with them was great also.

I saw Ratdog at Huntah. One of the Mountain Jams...

One night I was driving home late and listening to a killer Dark Star on the the Grateful Dead hour. Great sax solo... I could hardly believe it when they said it was Rat Dog. I like Kimock ut I find him maybe too controlled and perfect. One of the things I loved about Jerry G was not even he knew where he was gonna go half the time.

Not dead related but best sound check for me was Lake Street Dive. Lead vocalist singing solo into a silent empty field before gates opened. Sat at the edge of the tent and just listened (and drank a beer).

OK Best sound check was back in the summer of 1773 at Watkins Glen in upstate NY. It was Friday night and there was a festival the next day: The Band, The Alman Brothers and the Grateful Dead. So we're sitting around the campsite and we heard music from the stage area. Head over the Dead were playing and the crowd was gathering. They played a 2 hour soundcheck!

The Band blew me away the next day. I had no idea how good they were. Only time I ever got to see them though.
Best sound check, 1973 at Univ of MD, I caught the Earl Scruggs Review doing a sound check a couple hours prior to a performance in the colosseum where I dormed. I got into a lot of free shows because me and some other track runners lived inside the building where the concerts where held. Earl walked out alone on the empty floor of the colosseum to a group of about 6 of us student-athletes. One of my team mates went and got his banjo out of his room. Earl played it a bit and signed it and gave the kid some friendly encouragement. Very cool few private minutes with the greatest of all banjo legends. The performance that night was really good and opened my eyes to bluegrass.
I didn't get into the Dead until Phish went on hiatus in 2000. in 1995 I was full on into Grunge, Alternative and Thrash metal. I saw Phish for the first time 10/18/96 and my expectation of live shows was forever changed from that point forward!

I'm still very particular about the era and song selection in my Grateful Dead Shows. There are some super awesome shows and a lot of MEH shows. Especially after '77. '72 - '77 they were a force to be reckoned with.

Just bought Allman Brother's Band live at Filmor East on Vinyl. Damn those long songs on that album are 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I still have that Allman Brother's Live at Fillmore East album somewhere in my basement. I acquired it around the time it was first released. Considered one of the greatest collections of live rock music ever performed by a band during my lifetime. I only saw them live once, it was shortly after Duane died.

Music programs hosted by real DJs who choose their own playlist, featuring alternative, indie rock, folk, blues, world music, and tasty golden oldies. No stations nearly as good in the Wash DC area.

WXPK, The Peak out of White Plains, NY is a really good station that plays a wide variety, a lot of new stuff. Some great DJ's. They have this thing they do "10 at 10 where they will play 10 songs in a row at 10 after an hour along with some movie clips and some news sound bites maybe... the object is to guess what year they are all from. They also sponsor some decent new artists and some older ones like Michael Franti at a local beach bar/restaurant in Rye, NY. some summer weekends.

Maybe 5 years back we were far up I-91 heading for Attitash. It was late and we found a station that just played music. No ads, no station id, no dj, just music. Wish I could find it again.

On the mellower side and when I am on the cape or Marthas Vineyard, I like WMVY. Listener sponcered radio so they play whetever they like. Realy good mix of blues, Americana, sometimes dead, Tedeski Trucks. All good.

Had a similar experience staying in an old A-frame near Sugarloaf 10 years ago. No ads/DJ, just hour after hour of the best soul music i've never heard. It was almost spooky listening to that station into the night next to the wood stove. Haven't found it since

Phish has sounded Really, Really Good this spring.

I'm halfway into this 43 minute tweezer and it's been a very good jam that has flowed well through the different movements.

@KustyTheKlown DiscoBiscuts are playing harrisburg this Saturday night at an outdoor venue. Should I go? It's been like 20 years since I've Untz'd!

Apparently that’s moving inside bc they can’t sell tix, but yea sure go. I hate all the new songs which they feature heavily but the jams are still sweet. I’m going next weekend when they play Long Island

No outside? I'm a no then. that place is really small inside. ~500 people. The allure was an outside concert. I can sit at home and watch a show on my patio projector at the fire pit for free. LOL

yea i am pretty sure its moving indoors. i read that somewhere this week but cannot find it now. and it makes sense because they just don't sell tickets. even if 1000-2000 people show up, so many of them buy at the door, it makes it really hard for the band/venue to plan. its their own fault for being horrible businessmen for 25 years. but maybe its moving because of the air quality in addition to low ticket sales.

I'm going to see joe russo debut a new jazz quartet in a small Brooklyn club Saturday, and hopefully seeing Kendrick Lamar at governors ball sunday. just waiting on my buddy to hook up the free access, and hoping the air clears.

we saw hot chip in the 4th row last weekend. was awesome.

the biscuits are going west for the first time in over a decade and I just wish they were winter dates. shows in bozeman, boise, spokane, bend, tahoe, even fucking whitefish Montana. it would be mega epic ski tour (tho not enough time in any of the cities, pretty rapid fire schedule)

Its not really that bad here in central PA. I did a 25 mile bike ride outside yesterday with no issues.

The venue doesn't seem to mention anything about whether its inside or outside, which seems to me that its inside. They call the outside the "southside stage". Its picturesque right adjacent to the I-83 Overpass (that's sarcasm). And yes they've been fairly successful for a band that basically should've bankrupt itself both financially and creatively for the past 25 years...
