From a SkiMRVer. Might be interesting for anyone that hasn't ridden it:

Of course, the video doesn't do the ride any justice. The descents are really fun! :-o

I also think the ride from Ellen to LP is more impressive as the view of the liftline leading up to LP in the distance from Ellen is amazing. Equally impressive is when the bowel of LP comes into view.

I actually got a little scared on the way down. How do they evacuate you when you're that high up? I like the Brain Damage soundtrack (or is that Eclipse?) too.

It would be soooo much better if you could ski across. I heard maybe 20 years ago was that the original plan was to put criss-cross lifts with the chair starting at the South going to the top of North and vv. Then there'd be some trails that would cross also and there'd be a village inbetween. But, they wouldn't let them build it. Too bad. Not so much about the village but I hate riding a lift and getting 0 vertical.

You can't ski across but you can ski DOWN from Lincoln Peak or Mt Ellen......

yeah, I've never done it. I wouldn't with a guide (the first time). I guess it's gotta leave a car in the morning and make it the last run of the day. You don't come out at the base of either from what I understand.

No, it's mid mt. to mid mt. annnnnd (pay attention folks) it doesn't run often during the week, so check ahead.

Hey, the vid stops when you get to the best part, over the ravine when you're waaaaay above the treeline. I tell ya, you begin to feel real lonely out there. Not like you can shout down to a skier to go get help. I always worried, what if they just shut off the lift and went home with me out there...That's one helluva long cable. I was suprised to learn they don't use it during the summer. I'll bet they could charge landdubbers big bucks for that ride.

Sugarbush does offer guided tours through Slide Brook basin.

my son and I rode that lift one cold january day, the coldest lift ride of my life, thought I was going to turn into a icecube before we could get off the lift, skied down to the lodge as soon as we got off and took a hour to thaw out!!

Thanks for video. Never been to Sugarbush, but I've heard about the lift.

Watching the video, it doesn't seem like many people use it. Was it a colossal waste of money?

The ride is awesome. It is two miles long and takes 11 minutes. A lift evacuation would be our worst nightmare. It would require almost all of our ski patrollers and if the lift were full could take over two hours. That is why we do not run the lift when the temperatures are below 5 degrees or if the snow cover under the lift does not allow evacuation machinery in to Slidebrook What is more awesome than the ride, however, is the offpiste terrain that you can see in this video. There is nothing in the East like this! It skiied beautifully until the thaw that began this week and hopefully we will once again get the snow to make it a beautiful experience before too long!

Making me jealous. We were all set for a week at the 'bush last Feb. Then I went and tore my ACL 5 days before heading-up. Had to cancel the whole deal. I'm waiting until I'm fully recovered before going back. No sense in spending time there if I don't feel 100% off of the groomers.
