With all of this expensive snowmaking going on, it seems silly that one of the major resorts will not open next week before the rain and warm temperatures wash it away.
My guess is that someone else other than Woodbury opens early next week.

The Bush is blowing snow on FIS @ ME!!!!!!

FIS?! :-D Is FIS an normal early season snowmaking trail? I know Rim Run and Elbow get hit, but I thought FIS was more of a December snowmaking run after they open. Could this mean they are planning a radical early season opening with downloading on the GMX?

Not true. FIS is usually one of the first 2-3 runs they hit after Rim Run to the base of Summit or the combination of Rim Run> Elbow. The early season opening with downloading on the GMX is pretty much standard. If they can open with Rim Run, Elbow and FIS, that would be niiiiiiice. Doubt they will try to stretch it to Cruiser given the warm weather in the forecast. Better just to blow deeper base depths up top.

Have you heard about any early opening, Tin? Or is the opening still slated for the 18th?

I don't want to speak for Tin, since your question was directed to him, but I highly doubt that Sugarbush will open early. They don't play the early opening game (and for their niche, I don't blame them). They'll open as scheduled on Nov. 18, if conditions warrant opening. They take the long view on these kinds of decisions (and I agree with their approach).

Having said that, I do hope that KMart opens next Friday 11/10. I want to ski somewhere that day (lift serviced)!

They started on Rim Run and Elbow thurs. Still hitting those 2 hard. They had 4 or 5 guns going on FIS today. From what I've heard still the 18th. Ok with us, my son is racing Arenacross in Albany next weekend.

I don't know nuthin bout nuthin.

my guess is that madskier probably has is right. If they couldn't get open in time for this weekend then it wouldn't make economic sense to open until next weekend. Complication is that the weather is supposed to take a turn for the worse between now and then, so who really knows? Probably best to just keep blowing the snow as much as possible to build base depths in anticipation of some melting in a few days.

Probably the 10th time I looked at those. So why don't you or Ak get off the fence and give us the final word that you have no control over. I think its my time to spread false rumours. Got any thoughts on what to say?

When can we ride the lift? A couple of humours false alarms over the weekend.
Still planning on a Sat meet and greet with River Board members and us on Sat. Open or not.

Pretty good group, but just wait until you see a post from The poster (Sunday River). One of us will bring it over here if it does not get posted directly here. I'm confident they will be open this week. Power of positive thinking. BTW.... Ga2ski is a moderator over there, so we do have some reliable sources.

There are few people on that board that know what they are talking about It is like any message board you need to figure out who info is realiable. That being said, I don't even think ST knows when they are opening yet. The best thing you can do is monitor the SRMB, sundayriver.com, and here. DJAK posts here and is the communications director for Sunday River. He will definitely let everyone know when the lifts will turn.
