I'll be there on Saturday. I will be at the New England Ski Museum Booth from 11 to 4. Stop by and say hi.
Laurie

I will look out for you. I've always wanted to visit the museum.

Thanks for the coupon--I printed one out weeks ago, so I'll pass it on to someone else

Hi,
The show was quite busy today. I was there from about 10:30 to about 6 PM. I am staying in Boston tonight and going to Fanuiel (sp) Hall Market place with my niece, who is in college in Boston, tomorrow. I am totally exhausted from standing around all day. I get more tired on days like this than other days when I am very active.

I had a great time and met a lot of people, but as far as I know, no one from this site.

Yes, Chris Bradford...already knew him though...said hi and talked a little. I met a bunch of people throughout the day, lots of friendly people stopped at the booth.

Wow! I spoke to someone else he was cool with face to face. I was surprised at the mellow interaction. Too bad more people couldn't meet up like that. Things would probably be more friendly on the boards.

I think you are right! Part of the problem with the computer is that you can't see the other person, so you can't read their body language. You also can't see the words and syllables they stress, so often things get misinterpreted.

Fortunately, some out there realize this. There are others that do not though. Sometimes when things are misinterpreted they end up leaving bad feelings and no matter what you say or do, there is nothing that can be done to rectify the situation.

I truly believe that this is when you see problems between members of an internet group.

Well, I'm out straight here this AM, but I will be posting my show report shortly.

Overall take: not too bad. Some good booths and people. Tried to book a Sugarloaf Ski Week, but they were not really interested in selling (crazy prices), so we opted for Sunday River instead, which I really like and the GF will enjoy.

 The Burke crew was there...nice booth and DA, the manager recognized the TRAILBOSS here :D Oy, so much for anonymity! He thanked me for the support, so here goes: SKI BURKE!

Ski Show Report

Ski Show Report by the Trailboss

Date:
Saturday, Nov 20th 1-4pm visit

Who went: Trailboss and Ms. Trailboss

Location: Harborside Convention Center

Report: The long-awaited Boston Ski show finally came and we were sure to attend for free stuff, stickers, conversation, and an overall good time. We were in good company this year, but it did not seem as crowded as last year, maybe due to the fact that it was a) later in the season (holiday weekend) b) some places were open (so some were skiing) as opposed to last year, or c) The Harvard-Yale game was on the same day. Regardless, we had plenty of elbow room as opposed to last year.

Our budget was tight, but we did want to take advantage of any ski vacation deals. Sugarloaf ended up not being within our budget and they did not seem interested in working with us, so we booked with Sunday River, which I visited 3x in 2001 and enjoyed. Oh well...White Heat as opposed to White Nitro  The GF will enjoy the lessons and the River's terrain as well as their snow and faster lifts. :D

Free Stuff: Plenty to find--ASC was handing out free T-shirts as was Stowe. Mad River had stacks of their famous stickers for FREE! 8) Crotched gave us a 2 for 1 coupon to visit (much improved presence from last season). Saw a College friend there as well. Winner: Would have to be either Cannon for their discount pre-season tix and game or ASC for their annoying gong prize wheel for those who bought vacations and the free T-shirts.

Most Improved Display: Either Crotched for being more assertive or Burke for a good show presence (C'mon...you knew that it was coming!)

Most Annoying Display: The "Gong" Prize wheel at ASC or the ski tricks demo which blared music.

Most STATELY presence: Sunapee. Thanks for the M&M cookies!

Scariest Experience: (Shudder) the Mountain View Inn which spoke to Ms. Trailboss about a lovely wedding (at $50k and above...sorry).

Best Impression Display: Burke, Sunday River, Pat's Peak, Cannon, and even Nashoba Valley who made us feel welcomed. :D Wildcat was almost there.

Least Favorable Impression: Second year in a row, Sugarbush, who really did not seem to care if we were there. Sugarloaf was second. Jay also had scaled back quite a bit in the enthusiasm dept from last year, which was surprising

Best Question asked: "Since you are a Native Vermonter, why have you not skied Stowe?" (Shudder). I just said soon, but really, c'mon, how many Native Vermonter's can afford to ski there?

And last, where were the foreign countries? No Swiss chocolate? No Italian alps guides? I enjoyed talking about the Swiss Alps with the rep. Much scaled down in relation to last year.

All in all, a lot of fun. Looking forward to GETTING OUT THERE. I was caught salivating at the sight of snow.

Sorry, you might see me on the slopes.

One year I worked that show. I don't think it's worth the admission price, but some people can benefit from it. They used to bring out the canvas slope that used to be kept in Wellesley. The Ski Museum set-up can be kind of interesting if they show all those old 8 mm films from the 30's on Moosilauke.

My brother and I worked at the show all four days at the Ride and Ski New England booths. www.rideandskine.com

Anyone see us there? Or buy a discount card? :)

DBarnes727, I wasn't at the show, and I'm first learning about your discount cards from this post. I'm very impressed with the list of discounts your card is offering and I made posts about it on the NELSAP and First Tracks boards. I also added a link to your site at mine. I hope to buy your card very soon. Keep up the great work. This is the most exciting discount I've seen in New England in a long long time. I'll promote your endeavors any way I can.
