Who will be the first to offer lift served skiing? I'm not talking about a handletow and 150 vertical, I'm talking about substantial skiing. Woodbury has been stealing the thunder the last few years...but Killington might have reawakened. Your vote?

Sunday River- They have opened on Halloween the last 2 seasons (actually Oct. 30th last year), and I believe they will do it again weather permitting. I doubt any other areas will open before that, but I would certainly love to see some competition!

I'm gonna say tie between Sunday River and Killington. Other places could beat them, but most don't seem to be willing to put in the effort to be first. Woodbury being the exception.

SR, with Killington a close second. If it weren't for lower Bunny Buster, K would be first, but only enough to claim the title.

I asked this is the Az challenge. I don't know if it made the cut. That being said.. I heard and early run will be made at the River gain. Depends on the weather. I sill expect the River to be the first and the loaf to be the last. I'll be at both days.

Sunday River has the north-facing fixed grip lift with the midstation servicing intermediate terrain.

Until Killington fiddles with their lift configuration so it's possible to download on a high speed lift, it's impractical to open without having top to bottom skiing.

I would love to see the Chondola used to the North peak and ski down to spruce and use that lift for eary season. Cheapeer to just use 1 lift though. There is a Oct 31 moonlight night event at the North peak at Sunday River how kewl would it be to make turns during the day and hang outside on the np deck at night. I plan on making both events.

I always though Spruce would be great for early season too, but the base elevation is lower than the base of T2 and it would require quite a bit more snow to open Risky. With marginal temps, that may be just enough of a deterrent.

I noticed that moonlight event too, and I definitely hope to make both. What a way to kick off the season!

A. Why would you say "not including some 150 vertical rope tow" and then add Woodbury to the poll... that's all they've ever opened with...

B. Why vote for Sugarbush? They're typically open 2-3 weeks after others already have been.

Anyway, Sunday River, Halloween (aka 3:00 on Oct 30th). I'll be there on Halloween if it happens.

The River first. Then Killington, then Snow, but I hope it's Snow first.

Thread topic said North east, poll said East. As long as there is early competition and we have early skiing so be it. Nice to be talking about it. Glad K will be on board early. Competition is good. My gear is ready.
