my current gloves have zip out liner that i've used a few times in the spring. I don't really like them much as they are still too thick for a warm day. keeping an eye on SAC for a lighter pair for next year.

I always wear some sort of glove, even if it's just the shell of the glove. If I should fall or put my hand down, I don't want it to be cut by the snow.

Bingo. Spring snow is sharp as crushed glass sometimes. I'll wear liners, work gloves or my ratty leather Hotfingers with holes and wornout linings I've had for 15 years.

I only fell 4 times last season, 3 of em were headplants in 34" of pow at Jhole. It only takes one good fall to F up the hand, so I don't take the chance. Not to mention cutting my hands on ski edges or the remote chance of kissing a tree, fence or getting whacked by an outta control gaper.

spring is all about old school no grab airs so edges aren't a problem. the chance of me hitting a tree in spring south of vt are nill, unless we have a really big year and i can do some touring down here. out of control gapers that why i ride with my fists clenched(kidding).

I wear these in the spring:

That style is a classic. I've got a fresh pair waiting in my closet.

Not that I've skied a lot in the spring, but when I have, I've always used glove liners. I have these Burton liners that have rubber grippies on them. A little thicker than your usual liner but grip so you can use them without a glove over. Perfect for warm days.

At least liners, even when in shorts and t-shirt. Hands can get in the way of a lot of stuff that can hurt.

Me thinks you guys aren't skiing hard enough... I might fall 2-4 times a day, not per season!

i depends upon what you consider falling. i only consider a full on meltdown falling. like when i was traversing out to the bench at stowe and the next thing i know is my bouard is above my head. that was a fall. when im in a super carve and the backof my binding get fouled with snow and i slide a ways on arse. thats not a fall.

Regardless of what you call that latter situation, don't your hands hit the ground? If so, no gloves = hurt hands.

I've managed to avoid broken bones, knee surgeries, etc. but have to watch my lower back. I wanna ski healthy into my ripe old age. Closest I came in the past 10 years was a badly sprained shoulder/collarbone from catching too much air on The Asp at Camelback and landed about 20 ft from the launch site.

surprisingly no i don't fall on my hands. its just a instinctual thing. when i was younger i learned how to fall the right way. it also come from playing keeper for 13 or 14 years. your hand are always the last thing to hit the ground. plus the bones in your hards are going break before any other bone in your body (except the bone in your foot). im definitely not normal by any stretch.

gloves. can't afford to mess up the digits. lose the helmet once tree season is over and if warm enough ski in baseball cap & shades leaving the goggles home as well.

glove it. i crash way too often to go without gloves or a long sleeve shirt. I guess counting the times you bailed is possible when its only a few times a year but i cant imagine keeping track of my wipeouts.
