The Smuggs bash badge is something to look into. Also, as others have said, the fox 44 card is a great deal. Mt Ellen also has a cheap pass. But if you are doing lots of midweeks, you can probably play the field.

Let me know how things shake out. We can get some more turns in this season - and maybe that ascutney ride!

Mass nh line...Salem nh area real close to 93. I work and live in the same place if this goes down. Driving is OK as it usually 3day weekends.

Lodging is an issue but I figure rent is free so I can burn some $$$$ on that. A ski house may be a good idea?

There was a house share on the MRV site. Not sure how much it was.

I think a ski house in MRV would be jus the thing. MRG and sugar bush right there. You could do K-ton (kind of) on the way home now and then. Take a drive up to Stowe if you wanted.

MRG has all sorts of deals too, like 3 day/season tickets, and week day specials....

According to the website as a vet and still carrying a nh residence I can buy a full cannon pass for 289....that along with something midweek over in vt may cover me pretty much. It would leave me know plenty of budget to ski around to some fun little areas.

I'd rather ski cold storms during LA Nina with no need to work than warmer elnino working full time. But yeah, it sorta cuts and yeah it will probably dump in Tahoe. I'm getting a fatbike to hedge my bets this winter.

Just come back to the River. Boyne pass still the best deal in my opinion. Add the max pass part and you have variety.

Loon is a nice option mid week.

So some folks I sorta like are opening a business and need some help and I'm considering giving them one year to get started. It sounds interesting and I'd be off sun/Mon/tues most weeks. I might do this vs going back to Tahoe. Next year I would go to Utah and start fresh.

Anyhow I'm looking for somewhere to ski that's fun, relatively cheap for a seasons pass and of course vintage new england. It needs to have somewhat cheap lodging close by. I see cannon offers a steeply discounted pass for nh residents that are also veterans, tempted but I grew up on cannon and a little burnt on it.

What about Vermont. I'm thinking maybe a hybrid pass at smuggs. I like hokey low key hills and it seems the snow is abundant ( when it snows). Stowe is too expensive. Killington is a little crazy but ski house options seem good. Jay/Burke pass? Loaf?

Man, I wasn't at all prepared to think about any of this. I guess its not a big deal in the end and I'm not at all bummed as Its temporary. Last time I stayed here for winter I had a fantastic time. Expectations are in check

FYI Liftopia offers 3 day lift tickets at MRG for cheap or cheaper depending on which three days. Play around with their website, but for example, a three day ticket for Sun Jan 31, Mon Feb 1 and Tues Feb 2, 2016 is $87. If you haven't been, you'd like MRG!
500

PS: nearby Hostel Tevere is about $40 on weekends for a large/comfy single dorm bed.

I'd vote for the MRV also. Both Stowe and Killington are not all that far, but there is a lot to keep you interested in at MRG and SB.

Absolutely! NH Veteran is a get deal what I do every year now. Cannon should be a no brainer. Adding a few other deals for variety is also what we do.

Yeah, but it better not backfire and screw us here on the East Coast!!!!!!

That's what has me concerned if anything......but meh', we're used to it...
Midweek is great. VT and NH big resorts get crowded on the weekend, but have the competitive pricing, making for great passes.
SL & Saddleback are great when hit by storms and the places are deserted in the AMs any midweek, but a two-day thing is much easier on one's brain due to the drive. SR...for a day shot, at ~26mi from Goreham(sp?)...is a bit easier to reach in the AM. There is also Shawnee Peak, day & night sessions, would be..Conway or somewhere along #16, head east on #302(ME)..(I think...oh that's right there are maps..LOL)
