Yes, Spruce is part of Stowe, its included with your Stowe lift ticket. I don't think there is any trails connecting the two, but there are shuttle buses than run constantly between the two areas. The bus ride only takes a couple of minutes so its not too bad.

At nighttime...yes...I tink it's a better route...

I've been to Stowe many times...my wife broke her poles at the mid station on spruce (mid station? what's a mid station? Never saw one before that many years ago)...never been back...

Stowe has quite enough of everything....

Not that your going to....but one of the most fun I ever had, was following a bunch of locals into the woods...while it snowed another 12 inches...in the spring...

don't bother with Spruce...it'll just take time out of your day...

We are in Lafayette (Sussex County) and I know the most popular route to Stowe is Thruway/Northway to 4 to 22A to 7 then 89 and 100 but I was thinking 84 to 91 to 89 to 100 for me is ALL highway. Do you really think this is the better way?

IMHO taking your proposed route makes sense to me timewise and mileage wise. Route 22a is a slow road and 7 can be slow to 89. You'd be backtracking on this route whereas 91-89-100 would be all highway, more direct, and probably quicker.

Enjoy...Spruce is a part of Stowe and now sports a new High Speed Quad. Beginner/Intermediate terrain all with southern exposure (read: sun and softer snow).

Enjoy and let us know how you come out (trip report and pics  ).

Thanks guys. My plan is to leave NW NJ at noon on Wednesday and leave Stowe on the return Saturday morning. I wanted to ski 1/2 a day on Saturday but I need to get back to NJ.

Anyway I was planning on taking the NY Thruway route up and the 89/91 route back. This way I could compare the two routes and see which one's quicker.

I will report back how the drive and skiing goes. I am keeping my fingers crossed for no 60 degree days the next ten days!!
