Not sure if this thread is meant to be which IS the steepest by state, or what are the steepest trails you've skied, by state. I'm going to run with the latter:

CT: Gunabarrel, Ski Sundown
MA: Catapult, Catamount or Beast, tough call. Beast is more challenging for sure.
NY: Lower K27, Hunter
VT: Paradise, MRG
NH: Angel Street headwall, Loon
ME: White Nitro Ext, Sugarloaf

NH Lower Bobbys or True Grit at Waterville
NY Lower K27 although i've only skied it once
Mass Lucifers Leap at butternut (????)

I think you should strike MA and CT from the who cares list! Some great races have come out of MA due to the steep terrain in the Berkshires!

Angel Street headwall, Loon

This trail never gets the credit it deserves. Last year after the Valentine's Day storm Loon allowed it to bump up for about a week; it really proved to be a good run.

The East Basin trails at Loon are overall pretty underrated...

Loon as a mountain tends to be severely overrated IMO

As for steepest trails by state, the only one of note would be VT. It would probably be the Face Chutes at Jay, followed by Freefall at Smuggs.

In Vermont on piste/lift accessed... I would have to ask how long first. In the short run....10 turns or less I would have to give it to Mt Snow's Rip Cord. It acts like large zits that putrude horizontally out of a vertical wall. But it is only 10 turns with basically flat top and bottom. For more length then I would are with the Face at Jay. Off piste is a whole norther story.

I don't remember the face chutes at Jay Peak to be that steep but it's been since 2001 when I skied them last. Stuff in the east just looks so flat in my eyes after living out west.

The Face Chutes at Jay are not terribly steep, but they are more steep than anything in bounds I have skied in Vermont. Only trail that remotely felt like skiing a steep gully on Mount Washington. But still not as steep as they look from the Tram.

Loon is underrated for terrain, at least when the terrain isn't scraped off due to high traffic. Tramline and Kinsman at Cannon are steeper than anything at Loon though.

Then I recommend you expand your EC horizons past Blue Mountain.

I have done a decent amount of WC and SA skiing and while the sheer volume of super steep and challenging terrain is much higher out West, there are plenty of inbounds runs in VT that offer true double diamond steep goodness.

Regarding the Face Chutes being steepest in VT. For some reason I thought the Pump House and Saddle were steeper.
