I dont know fellows, Whiteface is going to have the steepest tail in the east this winter. Lookout below drops 800 vert in about 3/10 of a mile. You bumpers better learn to set an edge before you try this one.
The have the poles are in and the expansion is looking wonderful There intermediate run would be a diamond at most other areas.

is that 3/10 of a mile hypotenuse (straight down the trail)? If so, thats about 30 degrees.

Its straight down the falline. I have heard different degrees in different sections so I hesitate so guess. I would say an average of 30 is about right with a couple spots climbing near 35 and others dropping to 25.

That's a nice pitch, and 35 degrees is reaching legit double-diamond steepness if it lasts. But average of 30 degrees doesn't make it the steepest in the east. Perhaps it is >30 degrees for a longer period than other trails, I wouldn't know enough to say. It sounds like a fun trail that I'd like, especially if they refrain from ever widening it, but doesn't seem like the pitch is going to be anything unique.

It only going to be unique in the fact that I dont know of another trail that has the sustained pitch for that long. The only two hills that have anything comparable are Stowe and Sugarloaf.

Coinicidenatally, at the Loaf White Nitro is affectionately called White Iceflow and likely has the longest sustained pitch. . . that is as long as Timberline's running so you can get to the top. There are pitches off the backside and much further east that are steeper albeit a bit shorter with trees and better snow.

I'd suggest the criteria be modified to the "steepest sustained" pitch. A quick 35 off a lip shouldn't qualify.

True but I dont know of any other hills in the east that have 35 for more than 30 or 40 feet.

Anyone have Pics of this new run?

Here's some I took about a month age. I think even Greg would say this is "legit terrain". ;-)
