i've never really skied stowe's woods but i think they have cooler stuff. it's so much larger and has a lot more variable terrain, sugarbush just doesn't. been meaning to explore in slide brook but even still stowe has much more terrain.

Decided to give the feet a rest and not smash hard moguls today...so...into the woods.
The woods got the good...super goods.
I did take a run down goat though..yup..firm moguls...

Looks great, glad the rain projections have gone down. A few inches of refreshers and next week will be nice.

I prefer Stowe's trees & sidecountry to Sugarbush but SB does have some fantastic tree skiing as well. The Paradise Chutes are my favorite section of trees in all of Vermont. The best tree skiing in Stowe is all of the sidecountry. SB has better marked stuff.

I actually find the reverse..much easier to just hop into Stowes woods...
I've been at SB way more and haven't tried out the woods..
Maybe Ellen has some that I can hop into.
More research is needed...

basically anything is good to ski. there are a few spots around the mountain that you don't want to go though. The woods between Organgrinder and Ripcord, and the woods between Jester and Organgrinder. Both have enticing entrances but you will quickly regret it as they're extremely tight and brushy. Other than that though pretty much anything's up for play. Although Witch Hazel isn't very fun.

The woods at Sugarbush seem tighter and more technical in general (haven’t been there alot though). Stowe has more of a range from low angle easy stuff to tight chutes. Paradise is awesome, love Castlerock and Slidebrook is something I would love to ski sometime with someone who knows it well. Stowe Sidecountry/Backcountry beats Sugarbush though in my opinion.
Also like the t2b lifts at Stowe.

In my experience, the woods at SB are no more tighter or technical than those at Stowe. I think it's unquestionable that Stowe has more quantity and variety of woods - nothing like Hellbrook at SB. It's a difficult comparison b/c Slide Brook Basin is such a wild card. The Stowe woods feel bigger b/c they ski bigger. Outside of Slide Brook there aren't many glade offering over 1000' of vertical at SB. That is pretty much the standard at Stowe, so it feels bigger. At Stowe you can also traverse out on wide, sustained faces and choose from a multitude of lines on either side of the Notch whereas at SB the options seem to be a little less accessible or funnel into stream beds quicker than you'd hope. To be clear, you can spend day after day exploring SB woods and never get bored or ski the same line - there are some I've still never skied. But Stowe is a notch above in that department, IMHO.

SB has 24 marked tree runs Stowe has around 10 which why I think Sugarbush has the better marked tree runs. The tree skiing at SB is excellent.

Those numbers may be accurate, but it's a bit like assessing what NYC is like having only been to the airport - you're seeing only the tip of the iceberg to a degree that a comparison based on mapped runs only is effectively meaningless.

Agreed. The overall tree skiing at Stowe is better when the sidecountry is included. Which is what I mentioned earlier....
