Skiing/riding was so much better before GoPro inspired "courage" runs to boost one's social media perceived credibility, since most of the Go Pro POV camera stuff that's out there belong way more on Jerry of The Day than any decent skiing/riding social media account

people with gopros reside witih turtle butt pillows and apex ski boots. avoid at all costs.

i have one friend who i give a pass to on the go pro. this is mainly because he's just a hilarious person, and when he has the camera, he narrates all day. his internal monologue comes to life, and we watch it in the evening after skiing solely for comedy, not for ski content.

if i find myself on a lift with a go-pro at an eastern ski area on a groomer day, i without fail ask them if they have 'caught any sweet footy today'

My wife and I have one that is legendary in our family. Our kids were 5 and 7 and each had one on their helmets. We were at Deer Valley skiing out in Empire Canyon. Our kids wanted to take a different trail than my wife and I did, and they knew that we would all meet up back at the lift as we had been skiing that pod for an hour or so prior. Both kids decided that the trees with 8" or so of powder was more fun than the trail (can't blame them for that). The younger one, who was in the lead, fell and lost a ski, the older one, briefly stops to see if he's OK (he was, but was struggling to find his ski in the powder a bit) and without evening listening to his answer, she just told him that he was fine and she skied off. Took him a few extra minutes to get down after finding his ski, and then getting it back on, the oldest was with my wife and I trying to explain how she lost her brother when she was supposed to be skiing with him the whole time. Was great being able to go back and watch both of their GoPro's that evening and how it all went down verses how they said it went down! :ROFLMAO:

My friend did get some interesting tree skiing videos this past week in utah...
I'm just not into wearing one of those.
A long time ago I bought zeal goggles that had a tiny camera in the center...it's still down in the basement...good idea but the goggles lens was too small.

Right where I want to be
go pro is probably safer than when I see a parent skiing backwards in front of their kid filming them with their phone. Even when they are filming from behind not paying any attention to what is going on around them.

I wear a Go Pro. Nice to be able to rewatch runs when theres no snow on the ground. Definitely not filming icy groomers or doing stuff above my ability with it on though.

I will say there is definitely a certain type of GoProGaper™️ that wears them in general. Usually a whole family in Arcteryx, HH, ect. gear with matching skis all wearing Go Pros and being overall jerries. Funny when you run into them in the woods as they scrape away the snow for their “sick footage”.

absolutely. people who truly rip and ski interesting terrain can chest mount. that's the only acceptable use. pole mounts and helmet mounts look so fucking stupid.

Best angle is a bite mount imo. NeonFeet on reddit uses one and thats a great angle. Personally I’d be afraid to break some teeth. Chest mount gets pretty good footage but it needs to be steep or the angle sucks. Head mount looks corny but if you get the angle right it looks the most cinematic.

I saw one head mount video yesterday from a snowboarder posted on some social media feed, where they had the camera pointed down roughly at the tip of their board. I almsot felt a bit dizzy trying to watch the guy attempt to slide a few entry level boxes before crashing. Definitely not the proper headmount angle in that Jerry of the Day worthy bit

Chin clip was really nice this afternoon. I spent the whole afternoon on that side. It was empty and the snow accumulated nicely!
