Where:Stratton Mtn
Snow: pp, lsgr to start, hero snow in the sun by midmorning, starting to re freeze a little as the light got flatter later[/b]
Trip Report:
Arrived at Statton at 9:30 and it was already so busy that the only lot we could find a parking spot was the last row of the sun bowl lot. Ticket window line took 30 minutes, and then a long-azz wait to get on the 6 pack chair there. It was incredibly crowded and an unfortunate harbinger of what was to come.
Took the Ursa 6 pack to the summit immediately, liftline below looked good and saw a few people ripping it up. Fairly long lines at midmountain...not a good sign but at least having so many high capacity lifts moves the lines. Ended up going over to the other side of the place where the fixed grip quad was. However, we got in line for it right when they closed it due to electrical problems. Boo! The base area was a ZOO and tempers flared in the gondola line when some lines moved *much* faster than others.
My own temper flared when we got back over to the ursa chair and were told that 'we had to form groups of six because they didn't want the singles line sticking out past the corral for safety reasons.'
I told the guy that I paid $84 for a lift ticket and was getting in the singles line if I wanted. Seriously, wtf?
When the sun was out, glorious hero snow abounded on the front face and you could *really* crank. The few glades were mostly tracked out but still fun.
Overall, a middling experience due to so much attitude and way too many damn people.
