Ride the Montezuma lift at Keystone in Late March-April and You'll see quite an assortment of beads, thongs and panties hanging from the trees

True... Any ski area that has an underwear tree...
I think it's OK to toss underwear... Only girls though... ;)

We've often though about throwing a big pair of granny panties on the underwear tree at Hunter...

That's not uch of a tree though..it's off the "F" lift...no?

OMG! I am so bad! I have thrown many things off of the lift in my life. I can't even begin to count the number of "That's a 10" , "Are you ok" , "Hey, wait for me at the bottom." and other comments I have thrown from the lift. I have also thrown a number of glances.

Does the time I dropped my camera count?

How about the gloves and poles that have fallen over the years?

My worst...I dropped a ski and boot in the rear entry boot years. The darn closure came open and I did not know it. Back then, to get comfortable boots often meant getting the larger than needed for me (I didn't know any better.) I took my foot off the rest to dangle it about a tower before the lift bar sign and the ski and boot fell to the ground.

All kidding aside, DMC has a great point. It bothers me when beer cans, nips, empty candy papers, etc. are dropped from chairs.

I am guilty of dropping cigarettes (in the winter only), but they are out, and usually still in the pack...and the pack is usually full.
I do not make it a habit of smoking on the lift. If I want a cigarette while skiing I usually move to the side away from others and have it. I do admit that I have had some on the lift...but please remember, I've been skiing since the 60's and smoking since the 70's. Many of these years smoking was perfectly acceptable and done by many. Unfortunately, it's a tough habit to break.

I fully agree with that. But as for other things like a hot chix bra or underwear, the occasional snowball, and the smart*** comment are fully acceptable. Me and my boarder bros throw each other off the lift all the time. All in fun though.

I don't agree. I think the "hot chick" bras and underwear is sexist and demeaning to women. Any woman who willingly participates is demeaning herself and all other women.

No, I'm not joking! I'd like to see a tree made with male undergarments...like that would happen! Why do men/boys get so hyped up and happy about seeing women's panties strewn about a tree? If you want to look at female undergarments get a copy of the Victoria Secret catalog. You get to see the "chicks" with the undergarments in the catalog.

My my, such contention over what everyone originally agreed on.

I'll agree that, on some level, panties in trees could be considered demeaning to women. However, so what if guys get excited? It's perfectly normal, if not terribly enlightened. I would suggest it's the women throwing the undies that get the biggest thrill. Why else would they do it, if not to be rebellious, or to get the cute guy in the chair behind them all worked up? Why don't guys do it? Simple- there's nothing sexy about a ratty pair of skidmarked boxers flapping in the breeze. From a tree or otherwise.

Snowboarders are only fun to toss off the highest lifts- They look funny autorotating upside down under their boards. I'm agains tossing telemarkers, though- they always leave such a nasty smudge in the snow.

Dude(?) You're missing the point.

The days of the panty tree were because they scored the night before....

I suspect it's just not the same anymore.

Especially at Hunta.

Maybe at KMART...defintley not hunta

There are so few women skiers these days....KMART and North it's different...NH/ME as well....

AND, as far as male undergarments...I'll start....Boxers, Breifs, or BoxerBreifs....and what Color?

As far as it being demeaning, I'm not sure I see it.

As far as getting excited from lloking at a tree of female undergarments...dude...seriously?

They're getting better...

Hard to tell sometimes...jeez, I really wish everyone would grow up already and lose this "snowboarder against skier" mentality.

As for things to throw off the lift, I limit that to people talking on cell phones and mountain ambassadors who fill my ears with mountain marketing hype during my ride.

I get the point, and am personally a fan of panty trees. I was just responding to teachski's comments.

Boxerbriefs. All the support, none of the crowding. Color depends entirely on what's on top in teh drawer.
