Resort or Ski Area: Sugarbush, Lincoln Peak and Mount Ellen

Conditions: Packed Powder, Powder, and Bare Earth in some spots

Trip Report:

I got to Sugarbush at around 8:30 today and immediately boarded the Super Bravo. After a few runs down Spring Fling, Snowball, The Mall, and Stein's Run, I headed over to the Heaven's Gate Triple. I took Organgrinder and Jester, both with fantastic snow. Having never been to the Allyn's Lodge, I stopped in there, suprised by how small it was with no food service. Nice little lodge anyway. After I headed over to the Gate House Express and did a glade off of Waterfall which slipped my mind, Waterfall, Sleeper, and Pushover, and again all with great snow. After, I took the North Lynx Triple and took Sunshine which was incredibly thin. I also took the blue run (Birch run???) which could've been pleasent if it hadn't been for snowmaking. After all this I headed over to Castlerock. After a run down Castlerock Run, Middle Earth, and Liftline. All were quite thin and rocky, however Liftline was the worst. Also, why are the chairs so far apart on that lift? Anyway, after this it was time to head over to Mt. Ellen which sadly I had to take the car since the Slidebrook wasn't open. Which really didn't please me. Did this fail inspection? I walked over to it and the lifty told me that it was being inspected and that it would open in the afternoon. Mount Ellen was quite nice, even though I only took a few runs. My first one was up the Green Mountain Express and Rim Run down to Cruiser. Next I took the Inverness Quad and took Walt's Run to a glade. It was really a great day with the exception of the failure to open the Slidebrook Express. The new lodge looks great also.

Nice report, thanks!

From what I understand before the state allows it to operate, the state requires a certain amount of snowpack under the lift should rescue operations (evacuating the chair) be necessary.)
