Check this out:

Another example of how SB, Win and SV really cares about the customer. Sucks for the SB emplyees and compers, but I applaud this approach.

Hunter did this one year when I was an instructor...went to get my comp and they told me to go home, that I wasn't allowed to ski.

So I laughed at them and bought a ticket instead. The beginning of the end of teaching for me. It was awfully nice to just go out and ski and not have to worry about listening to the PA system for announcements that I needed to go pick up a babysitting class of little kids so their parents could go off and ski alone. Spent the day with my boys instead. Now I do that all the time.

Employees are customers too you know...the internal kind. Make them unhappy and alot of other customers follow suit.

Not blasting SB or Win at all, I do understand the logic. But it needs to be tempered with the understanding that employees want to ski some too. How about 2 hour windows of skiing where say 1/4 of the mountain employees can ski, then they stop and the next 1/4 go out for the next 2 hours?

I see your point. Do you think you would feel the same if this didn't happen to you?

Yes; I run a sales/customer sevice department at work. I know how important it is to keep my employees' needs in mind when I make decisions regarding customers.

Too many managers make the mistake of looking only at the customer's point of view without considering the effect that decision may have on employees.

I hear what your saying but I also think it has alot to do with how it is done. You walked up to the window not knowing that you would not be able to ski....that sucks.

If the empoyees know in advance, like the Bush did and how LL Bean does it(emp are resticted from going to the store during the busy times during holiday season) they are not only ok with but I dare say increases the respect the empoyees have for the company.

Good point SRO...lack of good communication was one of the major reasons I got ticked off.
