Hmmmm..... looks good for this weekend. I'll be at Saddleback Saturday and Sugarloaf on Sunday with the family. Trying to escape the heat but I don't think that will be possible. The weather forecast shows a cooler pocket up that way......well.....maybe not as HOT.

IMO: Wildcat & Sugarloaf are the places to ski from the middle/late of march onward. MRG, Sugarbush, and Stowe in January, February & first half of march. Snow just stays longer and NNH/ME are more immune from the rising temps and rain. plus mt. washington and the longfellows are more majestic.

I'd add Saddleback but never been there...and there not committed to staying open either. I like long vertical in the spring too. I skied Killington last April 19th and wasn't too impressed with the general layout of spring skiing.

I am sure Saddleback will be skiing great this weekend. If I didn't have my pass to the Loaf, I would be up there for sure. They had a ton of snow last week, although I have no idea what the rain did to them.

^ Only one way to find out.=) Loaf is so tempting right now.

Both are 100% right now. This weekend is probably the last chance for that. Wish i could go.

I think Wildcat could the the annual winner if they really wanted it. Saw a few pics from there the other day, looked like they still had good coverage.

Sugarloaf will be the winner this year I bet though.

Headed up to the River tonight...

Going to debate with a couple buddies... River or Loaf... they aren't going to want to drive, but I think it'll be totally worth it tomorrow...

we'll see.

Seriously go to the loaf! You will not regret it I promise. Take some pictures and post them.

The loaf always has the goods in the spring. Saddleback ski well too. Summer comes real late to that part of Maine, it's all about the snow preservation after March

Next year ...

Greg; Long way off I know, but are you shooting to repeat and will Sugarloaf be the AZ Summit home or will you mix it up?
Sounds good to me! Would love to get up there again...with less mechanical issues on the way, too. :)

I would love a repeat of the Loaf.

Wouldn't mind mixing it up either though. A VT location probably be a better draw for the NY area Azers.
When the topic was brought up on SkiDiva for an East Coast summit, I suggested North Woodstock/Lincoln, NH as a home base to ski Loon, Cannon, Wildcat, Bretton Woods, even Black. Depends on the time of year, but that's a centralized option. Cheap lodging can be found in the area and a lot of skiing not far away. Plus I've never skied in NH. ;)

Sunday River was fantastic yesterday. I might try to hit the Loaf next week.

Was at Wildcat yesterday. They have ridiculous coverage everywhere. Beyond awesome day.

Paul and I were talking about this on the way home and what we liked about SL is that everything was in walking distance, you parked the car and didn't go back to it until you were leaving. We have our expectations set high now!

That was a first for us, too, and definitely something I could get used to! :D

Going to do Bust and Burn/Parrot Head weekend at SR next weekend. They moved Bust and Burn back to White Heat! (which is choked with snow side to side right now). Can't wait for the festivities. Parrot Head is always a great party, and Bust and Burn should be awesome with the return to White Heat. After SR closes, will spend as many days as my legs will allow at SL. Especially Reggae.

Killington may go longer this year (and props to them for that). But I can't see them having more terrain than SL open from the 2nd half of this month on.

There are now gaping holes in all kinds of terrain at Killington. First time I've seen Northstar gone by April 4th. Superstar may make May 2nd but I doubt much else will survive another big warmup.
