I got there at about 8:15 and booted up. I was psyched to start the new season. I was surprised to see the barker quad running so I boarded it. I rode to the top and skied down Jungle road to upper sunday punch. It was soft snow and bumps. Pretty tough for the first run but I made it. I skied down through cfc corner and down cascades. The coverage was great. Next run I got on the Locke Mt. triple and rode that to the top. I couldn't tell if they were loading at the midstation till I rode this lift. They were so the next run I went to the mid station. I hit upper T2 to cfc corner again and met up with Bobr and ConnR. We made a few runs together and it got so busy that we decided to call it. When we left the barker lodge there was a line at the ticket booth of people waiting. That was good to see! Lots of business. Met up with Maineskier69 and had a couple of beers at Bobs condo. It was a good start to the season! WooHoo!!! It looked like they were cranking out the snow on Right Stuff, Sunday Punch, Lazy River, and Risky Business. It looks Good!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We hung out inside this time. :spin:

Nice start to the season. got a run with Ga2ski and fam early. Made a bunch of turns with Terry. Hung out with mainskier69. Wore out my son. He slept the entire 3 hours back.

I miss snowman.

He could have explained how the skiing wasn't. As Ga2ski said open and they will come. They came and I left. Glad to see a crowd come out and support the mountain. Next weekend will have more terrain and I would think the masses will spread out. SR rocks pretty good coverage and goals for exspansion. Upper Sunday punch is just big mounds of snow,. When they push that around there will be a lot of base. T2 was twice as wide as it was on Oct 31's. It was early season turns with alot of positive vibes. I love to watch snow being made. Always to cool to hang with buds as well. Hit Liams Sat night and Sunday afternoon. Happy with what I saw.

Good seeing you guys today, sorry we didn't make turns but the beers were better. The early birds got the worm today. As the crowd grew my legs were spent so it was a good time to call it quits. Upper Punch definately trail of the day, but the top of Cascades was good too. Be back at some point next weekend.

Nice place you got there Bob. I was glad to see I can fit on the couch....

Here is my trail report. Yeah same report as the SRMB, but it is thorough.

Weekend roundup:

Saturday morning: Since I had skied on Halloween, my wive got first dibs on the snow while I watched our son. I got on the snow around 10. T2 was skiing nice, especially on skiers right just off the edge of the groomed where everyone was pushing the snow. Guns were on Upper Punch, so it was hard to see at times, but the snow was creamy delish with some nice bumps forming. Upper Cascades to the connection with Over Easy became soft and carvable. Cascades below the OverEasy Connection was less desirable, but I'm sure some more snowmaking weather and grooming will fix that. Mostly I did laps on the mid station (Shout Out to Mid Station Lifties who had to say "Bar-up and Stay on the Lift" all day). Around noon they shifted guns to make snow on Ecstacy, Right Stuff and Lower Punch. Middle Punch got snow all day and night.

Sunday Morning: Mom came up to see her grandson, so I got to ski with Dad,my wive, Bob and his son around 8. Upper Punch and the upper portion of Cascades was Soft, supple, and silky until 9, then turned to packed powder bumps with snow light enough to give face shots. (That's right I was getting faces on Day 3.) T2 and lower Cascades were firm and fast. They continued to blow snow on Middle/Lower Punch, Right Stuff and Upper Lazy River when I left around 11:15.

Oh yeah I was very impressed with the number of people paying and donating food.

Thanks for all for the hard work this summer, fall and early winter to make this weekend so enjoyable. See you next weekend.
