Date(s) Skied: 1/12/2011

Resort or Ski Area: Sunday River, Newry, Me

Conditions: Powder!

Trip Report: Got up this morning and looked outside to a couple inches of snow (I later found out that it started at about 7:30AM), geared up and headed out just after 9AM.

Snow fell consistently and HARD all day long... We skied almost non-stop until about 2:00/2:30 when our legs were DONE.

Some GREAT runs out there today... 3D, Eureka, Rogue Angel, all SPECTACULAR.

I took a few photos, sadly not of actual skiing as it was too good to stop and take my phone out.

Heading out of the condo just after 9AM:

Riding the Spruce Lift at about 10:15AM:

I asked my buddy Brian what he thought of the skiing during that same lift ride:

Riding the Jordan lift at about 10:30AM:

A good shot of the snow piling up on the deck at Sliders at about 11:45AM:

WHAT A DAY.

Hot tub, then nap is on the agenda...

Can't wait to get back after it tomorrow!

Glad to see that Jordan is running. When I was there in a Nor'easter in 2005 they shut down every lift north of North Peak due to wind.

Wind wasn't much of an issue today... Hopefully tomorrow it won't be either (Knocks on wood)...

It was a bit gusty at times out there, but the winds were blowing straight up the lift lines, so not an issue.

Below the top two hundred feet of vert on barker and Jordan, I didn't feel any wind all day.

The mountain was reporting 8" at 1:00PM... If anything, that was conservative...

It was a fun day out there.

Probably my best powder day (both conditions and my skiing skills) ever.

:)

Gonna take a close look at winds but tomorrow is looking likely for me too. It's between SR and Wildcat.
