Yeah, well you're welcome for the picture...

;)

Thanks buddy. There's a reason I didn't ask you for a quote you foul mouthed neanderthal.

The snow cat makes crude piles. Then they "dust" them with snowmaking. We ski them in. Eventually they resemble moguls...

There's usually quite a bit of shovel work by the mountain ops crew too.

I figured as much... ;)

If the weather holds and we do come we will probably be using our free tickets from last weekend's Warren Miller film. The coupons say that they are good for one free day or night ticket, but Sundown seems to sell tickets by the hour grouping of 4 or 8 hours, so I am not sure where they can be applied.

good for 8 hours. What show were you at? Stamford or Hartford?

pictures later this morning for updates on AZ's trail and the new cat getting a work out.

it's lining up that Kurt will be the one with High Honors from this message board while the park chronies will be taking requests from newschoolers.com

it's going to be so much fun this weekend

So where should I deliver the beer? Do you think it would be weird walking up to the welcome center center desk with a case of beer and saying '"hey, can you hold this for Jerrod and his crew"

No offense to Jarrod, but the beer should go to Chris and his crew, which includes Jarrod, the snowmakers, the groomers (Kurt), etc... ;)

The people at the welcome center would probably drink it all before it got to the appropriate people...

Brian could probably help you find the right place to deliver. (And I don't mean to himself! ;)) He's right: don't drop it off at the welcome center. Chris Sullivan and the snow crew will likely never see it if you do.

Bump Line

Greg,

A second option to build a bump course doesn't require a time consuming groomer. You will need some stubbies, rope, two drills and a minimum two people. You will need just under an hour to set all the stubbies and about 2 hours to ski the lines in, in semi soft conditions. I have built courses both ways and they both work fine but using the stubbie method is less man power less time working and more time skiing. The most important thing is to be consistent with the spacing, and the skier must first start skiing into each stubbie with the boot to the stubbie not the tail of the ski to the stubbie you will need experience skiers to do this not beginners.

As for the spacing I would give you the measurements but it's top secret, just kidding. I do not have them with me and it's been six months since I have built a course so I forget the measurements and I do not want to tell you the wrong measurements. The measurements are very important.

If you are ever at Hunter and see any coaches building a bump course (usually we try and start early like 8:00) come and introduce yourself.

Later,
Creeky Knees
Greg
