this is all you get for now!

basic plow out will be done tonight.. then the bumps and park construction after that.

I drove the new cat... it's redonkyless

So much more power with way more plow options. so cool. its going to take everyone a few nights to get a feel for the different controls... so bear with us. We'll get it done though.

Very cool! A few questions if you have time/energy:

  1. Do you anticipate making any more snow over the next few nights?
  2. Did you lose much snow from the rain? I'd imagine not since it stayed cool and I think there was less rain than was forecast.
  3. Are you using the new cat solely to push everything around?
  4. Do you think you'll seed Temptor with it, or just go with one of the old ones?

What about ending the bumps earlier on Temptor (where it flattens out anyway) and putting a kicker at the end??

I could get behind a small tabletop or two down there. I have to imagine that might encourage hacks from the Canyon Run flats to cut through the woods to lower Temptor though. Patrol hates that. ;)

To me, that sorta defeats the purpose. The point isn't to have jumps and bumps on the same run, it's to have jumps in the bumps. Not having to worry about getting back into the bumps right after you land doesn't make things nearly as interesting.

Not sure about you, but I could use a whole season of practice just getting decent air and cleanly landing some acceptable old school cheesiness like a twister, spread or daffy or some combo of them. I think a tabletop at the end of Temptor is a good compromise. A jump in the middle would kill a solid third of the bump run. Too much real estate to sacrifice IMHO.

In the past, friends and I would just flatten out one of the bumps in a line a bit to make it somewhat of a "jump bump". That should do the trick for awhile and it's not something that will get the meat wagon patrol working overtime...you'll just have to work a little to get bigger air (get good 4 point pop on take-off)

a table top at the bottom would be great...but, you won't get the feel for landing the air then returning to your rhythm in the bumps...Maybe a table top at the top of the run so you can launch into the run??

No disagreement. I'm planning on spending about an hour a day working the park every time I get out this year. But maybe for most of the people here who aren't willing to sacrifice bumps for jumps, park-style jumps at the end of a bump run are the best solution.

Exactly what I was trying to say, though I still say a small kicker in one lane on the side of the trail wouldn't screw things up too much...

The snow is drying up and we will seed Temptor tonight. We decided to put rollers on the flat section in the middle because, the bumps we put there last year were kinda pointless and, it's to narrow for a Table Top.
Keep in mind that these bumps will be very rough as, we will be seeding the trail just a few hours before opening. However, we should see a high temp. of 46 degrees and that should help. Please, ski with caution we have a promising season ahead of us.

Thanks for the update and setting an accurate expectation of the types of "moguls" to expect. The AZ crew will do what it can to massage them this weekend, I'm sure. Do you anticipate being able to "dust" them anytime over the next few nights?

The roller approach on the flats is perfect.

Yes, we will make snow on them the next time we make snow and, almost every time we make snow. With some good weather they should be pretty big by mid Dec.
