I think most people have summed it up pretty well. Go in March and enjoy

it truly has some of the finest terrain in the east and one of the coolest 'vibes' around.

It is worth the trip for sure

i was wondering how long it was going to take greg to post a few pics ;)
Ha! True. I've gotten a lot of use out of those pics, and maybe it seems redundant, but hey, they don't call that OMG corner for nothing! I still get excited when a ski area comes into view on the approach, and the first time I saw the mighty Loaf really left an impression on me. Corney? Maybe, but I still love those shots, and the amazing thing is they hardly do that view any justice.

Glade skiing at the loaf..............

Josh: try this one, although probably on the map now. Source of Denial is skiers right of King Pine lift, there used to be a rope at the entrance which is maybe 30 yrds - 60 yrds down the trail all the way to skiers right. Go in here. Nice stuff can be found with ravines and gullies, some nice iced waterfalls and for the more adventurous a couple cliffs, one of which has a very nice and doable pillow (maybe 25 total feet).

If you are lucky to catch it when it dumps, there should be nice turns in the Source, as well as up top. Be prepared to hike some, as big snows come with big winds and the upper lifts can shut down.

Yep, that is now Cant Dog. One of the best glades in the east, IMO. Even when it hasn't snowed in a week or so I just keep going further and further out and always seem to find something.

Yeah, Can't Dog is definitely a good pick. I didn't name it coz I wasn't sure if it was on the map or not (I haven't looked at a sugarloaf trail map in years) and I didn't want to be giving away any secret stashes. Can't Dog is usually my day after a storm glade. I tend to stick on regular trails and more accessible glades on the first day, then look to the harder to find stashes on the second day.

On a powder day, the trees between Hayburner and Skidder and Hayburner and King's Landing can be a lot of fun. I don't know the names of either but I know they're on the map.

Those glades rule. Two years ago I lapped them for 3 runs staight and got first tracks every time. They're also nice when they get blow in from the snow guns. Makes for some nice early season glade action.

My favorate though is the glade next to gondi line, I have no idea what the name is. Heck, all the glades of the spillway are nice.

....

I'd even extend the prime months back to February...and if you can, as most aboard here will admit about most everywhere in the NE...ski during the week if you can...the place is lightly skied...and is, before noon, virtually deserted..(except of course for the diehards..), with the exception of possible CVA(skiing school) classes in the gates..(1 trail)...during college vacation(s)/Break.
Grooming crew does a good good.....and the snow, on average, is a bit drier...so except for the extreme wacko temps we got last Spring(and have been getting in early April the last 2 yrs)...the good, dry pp holds thru most all of March.
Mount Blue Motel(rte 2, just south of Farmington)...or ~5.5mi past the mountain to Stratton..a hotel and I think a motel as well....
As far as ski/bootwork...Loaf skishop @base does a good job..& *Happy Tunes(part of Tufulio's Restaurant..on main road..~3mi+/- from access rd). Often the larger Summit Hotel will have specials, so at least check them out on the main website.
