It means little to anyone who hasn't raced ASRA or raised kids in the area, but it's a truly amazing turn of events in this economic atmosphere:

Tanglwood to Open With New Ownership

The News Eagle
12:39 PM EDT
Hawley, Pa. -

Tanglwood Ski Area, a winter destination for over 40 years, will be opening this season under new ownership and management.

Many improvements are already underway on the lodge and rental shop, which laid dormant last season, including fresh paint, carpeting and decking. Michael and Beth Redmond of Lakeville will be managing overall operations with Art Ambrose returning as Rental Shop Manager and Allen Crouthemal returning as Mountain Manager overseeing snowmaking, grooming and lift operations.

Preliminary plans are to turn Tanglwood into a year-round destination hosting weddings, banquets and special occasions during the off season.

While new ownership changes will continue to improve operations, many facets will remain the same including snow tubing. Many discounts will still be offered such as a student discounts and special group rates.

Applications are being accepted for many positions. Apply in person. Tanglwood is located off of Route 390 in Tafton. The main phone number will be activated this coming week, 570-226-7669 (SNOW) and their website, www.tanglwood.net is currently under construction and expected to be operational next week as well.

That is very good news. Areas like this used to be key to producing junior skiers.

The only time I skied Tanglewood was in the March of 2006 ASRA go-pro event. The top 16 times for both the men and the women..resulted in Dual GS matches..I know AtomicSkier made it pretty far until Bernie Rausch beat him and eventually won for the men..
